@jaguar:
So my meds didn't come on Saturday (which is okay), so I postponed my injection teaching til next Saturday. My meds will be arriving this Tuesday.
10 days till I start the real injections!! Can't wait! (I'm not afraid of needles, so I'm actually excited. Though, let's see if I enjoy the number of needles. )

@bluestriped bee: I'm excited that you're getting started so soon! Not being patholologically afraid ( ) of needles is a really good starting point! You've got this!

@jaguar: Coming right along... I'm hoping we'll see a rash of IVF/FET
s over the next few months!

@Sunshine1810: @FliegepilzHut: @jaguar: thanks!!!
@FliegepilzHut: woohoo! So what meds do you need to get for your FET?
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@bluestriped bee: I'll have estrogen pills (Estrace, I think), a steroid (Methylprednisolone), an antibiotic (Azithromycin)...and of course, more PIO! Remind me-- when do you start injections?

@jaguar: Fantastic news! So excited for you!!
@bluestriped bee: Excellent! The countdown begins! It is going to get really exciting for us on this board so soon!!
@FliegepilzHut: Meds on the way - wow!!
AFM - almost out of BCPs (not taking the placebos) and the pharmacy won't refill yet since it hasn't been a month. I will be on the phone with the insurance later today and hopefully it will be an easy override. Starting my Lupron injections this Saturday! I have to bring my meds on the plane because I am visiting a friend next week. She is going to give me my injections instead of DH (since he won't be there). Luckily she is a physicians assistant so I am totally comfortable with her doing it for me! Otherwise, acupuncture again on Thursday night, and well, that's about it.

@FliegepilzHut: I start my injections on the 23rd for my ER. I don't have my schedule or med list for the FET, yet. I need to book flights home for Christmas and want to make sure it doesn't conflice with my FET. I need to ask.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@GreenThumb: Isn't that asinine?! I had that happen once before my fresh cycle. Does your RE require PIO after transfers? I'm still debating on whether to go back for more acupuncture in the week or two before my transfer...
@bluestriped bee: I don't know anything about your protocol...but you're starting directly with stims, right? Your ER will be here before you know it (early December?)!!!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@FliegepilzHut: Yup, I think. Do you only stim for the ER? Do you stim for the FET? I think that what gets me confused when you guys talk about stims. Since I'm doing an ER first then a month break then followed by an FET, I don't if I'll be stimming for my FET. Does that make sense? I know for the ER, I'll be on injections to stimulate my ovaries to make more eggs & follicles. But for FET, don't you also take estrogen to stimulate your linining.
I think I get caught up on the 'stim' lingo. Also, does 'stim' aka injections?
Since I'm starting my injections on Oct 23rd, I think my ER will be end of Oct or Early November. Then from there it depends on how long my RE wants me to break for. I'm hoping FET happens before Christmas.

@FliegepilzHut: Got it all worked out and already have my prescription in hand. I'm totally impressed with the customer service of Anthem, Express Scripts and CVS today!! Yes to PIO (boo) starting 5 days before the FET all the way through 12 weeks. I'm hoping I don't have an allergic reaction like I did last time. No fun having an itchy bum! How often were you doing acupuncture before? Did you go before your last transfer?
pear / 1986 posts
@bluestriped bee: I think that the "stim" term is used for the fresh cycle/ER only. Technically, yes you are building up the lining for the FET, but I don't think that is considered "stemming" as far as I know. The lingo is a pain in the neck, isn't it! Especially with you going through the full fresh cycle and the FET all in the first round of things. It would be awesome for you to have the FET before Christmas!! I hope that everything goes great as you gear up for the ER.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@GreenThumb: I think I went only once a week or so during my fresh cycle...and not at all immediately before or during ER/fresh transfer because my RE is in a neighboring state. And I don't guess I went during my TWW either. How often will you be going? Will you get acu right before/after your transfer? Yay for good customer service! Oh...I found out yesterday that my insurance is paying for everything for my FET EXCEPT the PIO...I'm pleasantly surprised because so far, everything IF-related has been out-of-pocket!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@bluestriped bee: I usually think of "stims" as the injectable FSH/LH meds used during a fresh cycle...I was on Lupron injectable (long agonist protocol--to suppress my ovaries) for quite a while before starting stims, though. Forgive me, I don't know how I got the wrong month up there! Early NOVEMBER egg retrieval, I bet.
@GreenThumb: Yikes! That sounds terrible... Was it just a skin reaction on your bum...or everywhere?! I think they can give you progesterone in a different carrier oil, if necessary.

So I have some more updates... I emailed my IVF coordinator.
FET will be in January... around 25th and 28th. (Boo, not before Christmas.)
Need to prepare myself for some more waiting in November and December...

@bluestriped bee: My silver lining always has to do with wine and other dietary indiscretions. But I know that's cold comfort at this point... I hope you have a great cycle and lots of happy, healthy embryos ready in January!
Furthermore, hopefully yours will be one of a string of successful FETs in the next few months!

@bluestriped bee: *hugs* I hope the wait goes quickly. I guess this busy time of year should hopefully make things go by faster? Still, I find waiting the WORST.

So we saw our specialist today, to make a WHAT NEXT appointment, if this FET fails.
If it fails, we can go right ahead with a stim cycle once my period gets here. It'll be an antagonist protocol this time (my first time - all other stims have been long/down reg cycles) and will be pretty standard: 200 puregon + orgalutran. We're aiming for fewer eggs, but of higher quality - like the last cycle that resulted in Georgia + our little boy angel babe. I'm also having a similar longer trigger (38 hours) & progesterone + crinone to make sure I'm covered.
I guess I feel good about this all getting started again, at least if this FET fails, we have a plan.

@jaguar: A plan (or plan B) always helps me feel better. I sincerely hope yours won't be necessary, though!
pear / 1986 posts
@FliegepilzHut: That is awesome about your insurance! Mine actually does quite well for the FET meds, too. As for my allergic reaction, just welts and itching at the injection site. If it happens again, I'll see about a different carrier oil, but my nurse last time said the alternative would be Crinone which I always hear is super messy. Probably like the pessaries @jaguar: mentioned. But whatever works, right?!
@bluestriped bee: Sorry to hear about the wait, such a bummer. But hopefully the holidays will make the time pass quickly!
@jaguar: I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for you that this FET is all you need!
But it is so nice to know that you have a plan right away just in case.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@GreenThumb: The pessaries aren't all that bad. I've used Crinone AND regular generic pessaries. Crinone leaves clumps (yuck!) and the pessaries have a wax coating that melts & can leak - so they get you to lie down for 30 minutes after.

@jaguar: Good luck with your transfer!!!! Thinking great thoughts and so excited to hear how it goes.

@bluestriped bee: Sorry you have to wait until after the new year, a fun thought to hold you through the holidays is just think.. if you get your BFP in January you will have a little chubby baby by christmas next year
@jaguar: sounds like a good plan! Hoping you don't need it though and this fet works for you. Good luck with transfer!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
Thanks lovelies. Transfer done! No more in the freezer now, scary thought. The scientist was lovely, the FS was lovely (he did our egg retrieval back in 2012, so it was nice to see him again) - it felt like a nice sign.
Grade B blasty, but thawed nicely.

@jaguar: Looking good! Congrats on a smooth transfer!!!
@FliegepilzHut: Has your RE mentioned Lovenox blood thinner to you at all? I forget if you and I have talked about it. Apparently it can help with stickiness in cases of RPL?
I got my new protocol from the doc and will be on a Microdose Lupron Flare Protocol this time around, so a little bit different this time. We're also adding in two endometrial scratch biopsies in the next 1-2 weeks, during my BCPs weeks. Hopefully it wont hurt too much! We are tentatively scheduled for an egg retrieval around 11-16 and a embryo transfer around 11-21!

@momazon: She said she had a low suspicion for clotting issues...but having said that, there were a few things we didn't test for (MTHFR, Factor V Leiden, etc), because I don't have any family/personal hisory of blood clots. I may ask, though, to make sure. Does your RE have you take aspirin? You and @Greenthumb: will be about 5 days ahead of me!

It looks way wonkier than my blasty with Georgia (she was a perfect, almost hatched one) ... but trying to remember that plenty of interesting looking embies make cute babies!

@jaguar: Really keeping my FX for you!! So glad the transfer went well! :good luck:
@momazon: Yay for the 21st!! Me too!!!

@jaguar:
Also, thanks! Yeah, IVF waiting is the worst.
@Mrs.Pinecone316: What a great thought to think I'll have a baby in my arms maybe this time next year! Thanks!
@GreenThumb: thanks! Yeah, focusing on the holidays will pass the time. Maybe I'll get back into my crafts and baking.
@FliegepilzHut: thanks! Mmm, I can drink on Christmas and NYE!!! Let's bring in 2015. 2015 has to be my (our) year!

@momazon: Just butting in here... I was on Lovenox for my pregnancy (I had 2 m/cs and trouble getting pregnant). Let me know if you have any questions about it or any RPL testing, I had plenty!
@FliegepilzHut: I'd be cautious about your doctor telling you its not worth testing because you don't have any risk factors. I didn't either, yet I have several clotting issues (including MTHFR). Its all about your comfort level, but I wanted all the testing to ensure the best outcome. I really believe that it would've never happened for me if my naturopath wouldn't have been so proactive on testing. Good luck to you, its a rough road to navigate!

I couldn't stop thinking about my weird looking blasty (it was totally NOT what I pictured it would look like) - so I did some googling. Found this link: scroll to the bottom for pictures.
http://www.pacificfertilitycenter.com/treatment-care/frozen-embryo-transfer
It looks like they collapse them to freeze, and it can sometimes take a while to 'reinflate' and go back to looking like a traditional blasty. The image I have of mine looks like the one in the middle, which makes me think it was halfway to puffing back out into its normal appearance.
I had no idea that was what they had to do to freeze embryos, so that was an interesting read.
