@Jenn23: hooray!!! Buckets of sticky baby dust and wishes for a happy healthy 9 months! Last time we were fall mommas together now we get to be spring mommas together!

@mrswin: Thanks!!!
@MrsMccarthy: Thanks! Spring and fall are my favorite times of year, too. Perfect!
My husband is picking up pasta from our favorite Italian restaurant to celebrate. He was so happy when I told him and showed him the latest test.

Thanks, ladies!!! Not sure if it is psychological or not, but I feel totally different today. Much more sleepy, a tad nauseas, and slightly dizzy. Wonder if these are already pregnancy symptoms? I didn't think that would happen this early. I could be just looking for symptoms.
According to the due date calculator online, my due date will be 4/25/15. And we will have to schedule a C-section one week early at 39 weeks like last time, so that would be 4/18. Our anniversary is 4/17.

@Jenn23: beautiful BFP, congrats!
I'm a little behind on this thread , but I just had my ER today!
I came down with a terrible head cold on Tuesday night, but I made it through. I got up at 5:30 am, got DH out of bed, and had a caregiver come to stay with him while I was gone. I picked up my friend (she doesn't have a car) and drove downtown to the surgical center.
The procedure was easy and I was more uncomfortable than nervous. I had 20 eggs, wow! I felt good after and we had a nice lunch. I even drove home because my friend had a migraine.
Now I'm just really crampy and I wish I could take something more than Tylenol. I'm excited for the fertilization report tomorrow. I hope this works

@macintosh: Congrats! Glad things went well today, 20 eggs is great. Do you have a heating pad/pack that you could use? I found it helped with the cramping after the procedure

Hello. I'm officially on the IVF train! We had our WTF appt today following our failed trio of IUIs. I'm waiting for AF to come and then I'll be put on BCP for a month. In that time, we'll do bloodwork, injection class and meet with the IVF coordinator. RE thinks we'll get in our first IVF cycle by the end of the year. Sounds like a far away, but maybe the IVF coordinator will have an earlier schedule for us. I asked about meds and I'll be on Menopur and follistim for the stims. Then progesterone, Ganirelix, estrogen after the transfer, I think. I'll continue taking the metformin and dexamethasone to treat my PCOS and DOR.
Oh, my RE said that he won't be doing a fresh cycle, just frozen transfers. He said that recent research shows fresh cycles aren't that successful and that when they fail, they sometimes blame it on the embryo when really it was the lining or some other reason. So he and his clinic likes to give our embryos a better chance. That's probably why we have a longer timeline to getting to the transfer. Once he retrieves my eggs and fertilize it (with ICSI), I'll be given a 1-2 month break before doing the transfer. A lot of waiting is about to happen...

@bluestriped bee: That's really interesting! Did he offer statistics on the rates of success in their clinic for fresh/frozen transfers? Did he make it sound like they don't do fresh transfers under any circumstances? Wishing you
!

@FliegepilzHut: I think the RE said within the last year, they stopped doing fresh transfers. Maybe there might be exceptions to the rule, but I got the impression that they stopped doing it. Thanks for the luck!
From my clinic's SART data, it looks like there is a 30 percent chance of live birth from a fresh cycle and for frozen transfer there is 50% chance of live birth. But I guess it would depend on number of other factors like the number of embryos transfered and stuff.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@bluestriped bee: that's interesting....my clinic has a 48% live birth success rate for my age bracket with a fresh transfer but only a 34% success rate for frozen transfers...and the average number of embryos transferred is less with the fresh transfers. Every clinic is different!

I think it's all down to specialists. My centre tries for a fresh transfer, but has fairly good rates with FETs too - but it's so much based on the embryo with them.

@macintosh: What great news! I'm excited for you!
@bluestriped bee: The rest of this year will fly by, I'm sure! I did a fresh transfer, but I do remember my doctor insisting that I be on both progesterone suppositories and PIO injections because my body wouldn't be able to regroup itself after stimming and ER well enough to sustain a pregnancy. I wonder if that has something to do with why your clinic prefers frozen transfers. My doc implied that I wouldn't have to do as many meds if I waited for a frozen cycle. I know that stinks that it adds more waiting time to the process, but I hope it pays off for you!

Hey Bees I forced myself to take a 10day/2 week break from infertility chatting and obsessive googling so still need to read through everyone's news. I had my final consult with RE yesterday to review the recent bloods and get going with our IVF schedule. Needless to say my future will now involve a LOT of chatting and worrying and googling
After the RE cons, I met the IVF nurse assigned to me, she gave me the injectables crash course and the first 5 days of stim meds. Started Provera yesterday to organise an AF for CD1 - looks like we'll be on track for a first week of Sept ER!
Finding it all incredibly surreal that with some science and luck, I could very well be preggers by the end of September! It's been a long road to here

PS: RE said that DH's swimmers are more than adequate for IVF so we don't need to do ICSI at this point.

@bluestriped bee: when I was doing IVF this time last year one if the other bees clinic also only did FETs and she had success! So excited for you!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@kentuckygirl: @bluestriped bee: I think it was @justdarling, right? Or maybe @apex? (Or both?) I think at least one of them did PGD, too, which was the reason for the FET. Either way, they were both successful!
pear / 1556 posts
@bluestriped bee: So exciting! I have seen those research studies as well about FET's being more successful than fresh. My RE and I talked a bit about it. Unfortunately with my first cycle we had to do a 3 day transfer and none of mine made it to freeze, so I don't know if an FET will ever be possible for me. We will see! By the way, I know it seems like a long way off but it will fly by!
@Robyn_ZA: That's great! Good luck to you! I'll be right behind you. ER should be the week of 09/15 for me!
pear / 1786 posts
@Shutterbug: @bluestriped bee: it was justdarling who's clinic only did FETs because of their success rate.

@kentuckygirl: hanging in there sort of in denial about needing to do IVF yet again, so I'm taking an extra long break for now. How's your LO doing?

@macintosh: 20 eggs is great!! Can't wait to hear how many fertilized!!
@bluestriped bee: Sorry you have to do IVF, but at least you have a plan in place!! That's awesome! Wow, that is interesting about the frozen transfers. Both of my IVF cycles, none made it to freeze, so I don't know that it would have worked well for me, but it sounds like your clinic has had good success with that.
Line is still getting darker each day which is good. Today I'm exactly 4 weeks. Beta is Monday which can't come soon enough!!
Thanks, everyone.
nectarine / 2433 posts
@bluestriped bee: Interesting that they only do frozen transfers, what is their policy if none make it to freeze? Do they refund part of your fees?
@Shutterbug: I hope your break is treating you well
@Jenn23: Yay! So thrilled to hear that the line is getting darker. Can't wait to hear your beta # on Monday!

@kentuckygirl, @FliegepilzHut, @Mrs.Pinecone316, @thisisme, @Jenn23: thank you all so much!!!
@bluestriped bee: I'm glad you have a plan to move forward with IVF. I'm sorry the timeline is longer than you expected, but it sounds like they know what they're doing. Good luck!
@Robyn_ZA: Thats so exciting! September is so soon
AFM, I got my fertilization report... Out of 20 eggs retrieved, 13 we're mature and 10 were fertilized with ICSI! DH was so excited when I told him. He's like "we could have 10 babies!" I had to explain that it doesn't work that way. Transfer is scheduled for Tuesday. I'm letting myself get excited now, this really might work!
persimmon / 1316 posts
@bluestriped bee: Sorry you have to be apart of the IVF club but welcome! So interesting how clinics do things so differently! I was on all the same meds as you will be. Hoping the wait goes by fast for you.
@Robyn_ZA: So exciting! I remember after talking about doing IVF for so long it finally felt real once I got my meds. It will go by fast!!
@Jenn23: Yay for darkening lines! Def takes a lot of the stress of the beta away.
@macintosh: Great fertilization report! Grow babies grow!! Excited for tuesday for you!!
AFM.. Well I am still feeling cruddy BUT I think my OHSS peaked a couple days ago (at a whopping 13 pounds gained) and have been loosing about 1 pound a day the last few days. Still too soon to feel a lot better but mentally just knowing that I am getting better each day now instead of worse each day is wonderful.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: Yay! I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better!

@FliegepilzHut: thank you! I'll be thinking the same thing all weekend
@Mrs.Pinecone316: thank you! Boy I really hope we have enough good ones to freeze next week. I'm glad you're feeling a little better. I must say I feel lucky that my cramps subsided and my ovaries feel less swollen already.
