@Shutterbug: I am sorry you have to do IVF again too I think of you often and hope that your next round is successful.
Mason is great and every day I feel so fortunate. Hoping you are next!

@bluestriped bee: After a quick scholarly search, it looks like some clinic's rate of FET is better due to "impaired endometrial receptivity" after the stims required for ovarian stimulation. There are a heck of a lot of confounders that would make it hard to compare clinic to clinic. I can't wait until your pregnancy announcement.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: I'm so glad to hear that things seem to be starting to calm down for you. When is your ultrasound scheduled for?

@macintosh: Glad your feeling good post ER! Your planning on doing a 5dt right? Have you decided how many you are transferring?
@mrswin: I would be getting one next friday but I will be out of town so I have it scheduled first thing when I get back. Tues the 26th, I think the day after you right? How are you feeling about your ultrasound? I am def more nervous for that then my betas.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: yes, 5dt planned for Tuesday AM. I'm really excited that DH can come with me. We are transferring 1 on my doctors recommendation because we don't want a risk for multiples. I'm hoping to have a few to freeze in case we need to try again, one at a time. FX for good ultrasound on Tuesday!

Hi all you lovely ladies. I've not been on in ages due to some health problems and a recent cross country move. Thankfully, the move went well and fingers crossed some of my major health issues have seemed to have resolved along with it.
My husband and I are thinking of starting the IVF process and just putting our embryos on ice until he finishes up with school in about 18 months. We have to do PGD because of a genetic condition we both carry. Since we are now living in Massachusetts and getting our health insurance through the state exchange, IVF is covered 100% (not sure about PGD in our case) so we are considering going forward with stims/retrieval and testing and then just waiting a bit since I anticipate the whole process will be hard on my body. I'm excited to be back on this board and will try to catch up on where everyone is at in their journeys.

@PointeShoesTutus: good luck! I'm in NY and my insurance told us that we should have the RE write a letter of medical necessity and they'd decide if they'd cover PGD for our frozen embryos if we need it. Since you are both carriers of a genetic condition I'd think it would hopefully be covered.

@PointeShoesTutus: hi! I'm in MA also, and our insurance would have covered 1 year of frozen embryo storage along with our fresh cycle. I didn't look into PGD, so I'm not sure, but it may be covered if the RE says it's required. I know that is how ICSI was handled by our ins co as well.

@PointeShoesTutus: Hello and welcome! If you want to add your info to the IF History thread, feel free. This is a great group of ladies! I look forward to hearing more about your upcoming IVF cycle and will be cheering you on! Maybe a handful of us will all wind up doing a FET close to the same time this fall!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: Yep mine is the 25th. I am way more nervous for that then my betas, we haven't told anyone yet because I want to have the U/S first.
@macintosh: Hope your fertilization reports have been great. It's fantastic to hear that your DH can come with you for your transfer
@PointeShoesTutus: Welcome! I'm glad that you are going to be able to get started with IVF soon and that you are feeling better. FX that PGD will be covered in your case.

@PointeShoesTutus: Welcome! That sounds like a good plan! And great that you have coverage!!
Waiting for beta results in a few hours. I'm a wreck!! Line has gotten darker each day, so that is a good sign!!

@Jenn23: That's a great sign! FX for you! I can't wait to hear your results!!!!

Just got the call from the nurse. 141!! I'm Day 17, so I guess that isn't super high, but it is decent and not too low. Last time I had only a 51 on Day 16, so this is much better! My RE doesn't do a 2nd beta in 48 hours unless the number is low, but I'm to schedule another beta, plus first ultrasound next Monday. Will be too early to see the baby, yet, but she said we can see the sac. My progesterone is 18 which to me seems a little low. She said it isn't. Do any of you have progesterone levels in the teens, not the 20's or higher? She said I can increase the PIO to 1 1/2 cc if it makes me feel better, but that she wasn't concerned.
So glad my beta is a good number this time!!
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Jenn23: awesome! My progesterone for this pregnancy started at 3.7 so don't worry.
persimmon / 1085 posts
Thanks, ladies!!! @swedishfish: The number 18 doesn't bother me, but when I asked what it was 1 1/2 weeks ago when I went just for a hormone check (they never told me the results, only would have called if levels weren't good) she said it was a 24. So why did it drop by 6 in 10 days? If I were having a 2nd beta in 48 hours I would get to see if it were still dropping, but since I don't go for a week, I was worried it could go down under 12 which is low. So I'm glad I was stubborn about it because that's when she said to increase my PIO to 1 1/2 cc.
I find it so weird that my RE doesn't care about the 48 hour 2nd beta, but the other RE at my clinic does. And most do. She said mine doesn't think it is necessary. Um, doesn't he know all we go through to get to this point and how much we want to know?!! Ahhh!
grape / 94 posts
@jenn23-- congratulations!!! my RE doesn't even check progesterone so I wouldn't sweat it. I have no idea what mine was or is!! here's to a happy and healthy nine months!
grape / 94 posts
also my clinic waited a week to check my hcg again -- they didn't do the 48 hour thing. my initial beta was 19dpo and then my second one was 26dpo. Sounds like everybody does things differently!

@Jenn23: My 2nd beta was a week later, too! No harm in increasing your PIO, though. Wishing you as easy and stress-free a first trimester as possible!

@mopeybuthopey: How are you doing? When was/is your first U/S?
grape / 94 posts
hi @fliegepilzhut -- my first u/s was this past Thursday at 6 weeks and 5 days. Saw the "blob" in there and the blob's heart is beating so that is good! I go to my normal ob/gyn doc next week, where she will listen for the heartbeat again, and if everything goes smoothly, I will have officially graduated I don't have any real pregnancy symptoms. Maybe some mild nausea and sleepiness but nothing out of the ordinary (I had mild nausea and sleepiness even when I wasn't pregnant!). I'm still very early though so I think there's still time for that to arrive.
How are you???
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@Jenn23: progesterone can fluctuate. It's good that the nurse told you to up the PIO though for your peace of mind!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@mopeybuthopey: Glad to hear! I'm doing better, thanks!
ETA: there were a couple of rough weeks in there, but I think things are finally on the right track. I'm hopeful for a FET in a few months...
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Jenn23: That's a great first beta number! Congrats and yay for a ultrasound so soon! As for the progesterone at my clinic they don't check it unless you have spotting or previous progesterone issues. If it will make you feel better then increase your POI but I think 18 is a good number and like @swedishfish: said some fluctuation in the number is normal.
@mopeybuthopey: Yay! So fun that you got to see your LO already

@mrswin: Thank you! I will definitely keep you all posted. So very excited for your U/S next week!!!

@Jenn23: congrats on your beta!
I just popped in to say my transfer is tomorrow morning! Anything I should know, other than the full bladder thing? My RE doesn't require bed rest, but I do plan to ask him how he feels about Pilates. I haven't been able to go in a couple if weeks and I'd like to get back to it.
Did everyone else have their DH there for the procedure? He's excited to come with me, but I'm not sure if he can go in the procedure room with the wheelchair.
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@macintosh: good luck tomorrow!
All SOs had to wait in the recovery room for egg retrievals and embryo transfers at my clinic. Retrievals and transfers are done in the sterile operating room so the less people in there the better.
ETA - I wasn't even allowed to walk into the OR for transfer. The nurse wheeled me in on my bed and back out again.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@macintosh: good luck! At my old clinic transfers were done in the ultrasound rooms (they had doors to the embryology lab). DH came in, but it was a bit tight with the RE, nurse, and embryologist all in there with us.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@macintosh: My DH came in, gowned, capped and booty-ed to watch the transfer. It sounds like it's equally probable either way. It will definitely be nice to have him there for moral support, though! Wishing you a smooth and easy transfer and thinking quiet, peaceful thoughts for your uterus! BTW-- definitely ask about Pilates (I don't know anything about it specifically)...I do know in my case, it took my ovary quite a while to return to normal...so no bouncing, twisting, etc, for quite a while post-transfer. Sending good thoughts!

@swedishfish, @Shutterbug: that's so interesting, the difference between your experiences. I'll be having my ET in the sane surgical center where I had my ER. They must have different rules because they had me walk in to the OR last time. I guess I'll just have to see what happens. I think DH will be excited no matter what
GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts
@macintosh: oh, I walked in for my retrieval but not my transfer.
nectarine / 2433 posts
@macintosh: Good luck tomorrow. My DH was in the procedure room for the transfer. They got me settled and then a nurse went to get him. He had to wear booties and a gown, he thought it was awesome to see them transfer the embryo on the ultrasound screen
pear / 1750 posts
@FliegepilzHut: aw, what a great mental image of your DH! If it's that sterile I'm not sure if they will allow his wheelchair, but that's ok. I'll definitely ask about pilates and yoga too. I'm finally getting over that horrible head cold and I'd like to get back to it. DH also has a cold now, so I guess he should stay in the waiting room.
pear / 1750 posts
@swedishfish: that's so interesting, I wonder why? I've heard about not wearing perfume, I wonder if it's a similar thing.
@mrswin: that's so cool, I'm excited about that too. I just want DH to be as much of a part of it as he can. Everything so far has been so clinical...I'm sure you all know what I mean.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@macintosh: I have a really adorable picture of him before the transfer... Hope your DH feels better soon!
