@MrsKRB: Nah, there are definitely good reasons for the long pill cycles - it might be the best one suited to you!
@AmeliaBedilia: Hey chick, welcome to this thread. Lots of good help here as you learn about the process. x

I am freaking out over here.
Transfer is booked at 11.45 Monday.... which would mean they're either thawing out my day 1's (yesterday or today) - I'm too scared to get bad news, so I am not bugging them for information... I don't want to know. Can't handle more disappointment, so I'm being blissfully ignorant. I am terrified to answer my phone in case they ring and tell me they've all died/stalled/failed.

@jaguar: Thanks for the warm welcome, and I am keeping you in my thoughts as you await news. The rollercoaster of emotions in this process is unreal.

@YogiRunner, @mrskrb, @ameliabedilia: good luck ladies! Wishing you guys the best!
@jaguar: I hope everything goes well with the thaw

Thanks guys, I appreciate the thoughts. It's Friday here... so I think I'll contact the clinic this afternoon to see how things are going. They're shut for the weekend, so this will be the last chance I have before Monday.
I'm just so nervous that we'll get a call on Monday morning telling us we have nothing to transfer, you know? Nerves.

@jaguar: Hey there! Just poking my head in-- I really hope you get some good news this afternoon!

@FliegepilzHut: hey chick
no real news - they thawed yesterday, so they said they'll check on them tomorrow (Saturday - day 3) - but the news they did give me was that the thawed okay so far.
one step at a time...

@jaguar: yay- the first hurdle is passed! Fingers crossed they continue to grow and develop nicely

@AmeliaBedilia: Welcome! Lots of great support here.
@jaguar: Good luck with the thaw and continued growth of those embies!
@purplepumps: I agree, I would switch just to get a new perspective and change of scenery. When my husband is doing poorly at the Blackjack table he says he needs to change tables to change the mojo Of course I'm just being silly but I agree that it can help to shake things up, if for no other reason than to feel like you're making decisions and moving on, rather than remaining stagnant/status quo.
I am currently sitting in my RE's office and I think we are taking the plunge to gear up for retrieval. He's having the coordinator write up a protocol for me now and I'm going to take the weekend to really think long and hard about it.
Oh and we decided to add the frozen "inconclusive" embryo to the new round. It's likely not good anyway so we get more "bang for our buck" if we add it to a retrieval for testing.

@SweetiePie: lol, interesting analogy. Yea...I'm 99% pretty sure I wont be cycling at my current place again.
So I'm doing stims and on Monday I had 8,9,9,10 mm.... they upped my meds and I went in today.. and I had 2 10mm. And E2 only went from 75 to 100. WTF?? How can there be like zero growth after 4 days at 150iu. The nurse kept saying this is normal and that I only had 1 10mm on Monday, so the other ones just grew more. Is that even possible? Has anyone see anything like this? My RE said on Monday that it looks like I should be triggering this weekend when she did the scan so obviously she wasn't expecting a practical stand still. So they want me to continue at the same dosage and come back on Tuesday again....

@PurplePumps: Frustrating! I've had follies come and go before, but the E2 sounds like it's plateued a bit - hopefully it'll behave and jump up nicely soon.
@SweetiePie: I'd do the same re: that last frostie. Can't hurt to chuck it in with the next batch. x
@bloved: Thanks! I'm really nervous but starting to breathe - I spent the last two days crippled with heartburn and indigestion, and I swear it's from anxiety. I've never had either before, and it was agonising - gotta chill out. So out with the colouring books (I love them) and the zen music, and trying to be calm...

Disappointment, once again. All died and left with one, sadly very behind, embryo to transfer. Once again our dreams of expanding our family are just shattered. Just so devastated.

Thanks girls. Just once I'd love to come in and be overwhelmed with excitement and good news - but for whatever reason, we're still stuck in the bad news bubble. I can't believe we're going to have to stim again. This is #3 this round, #5 in total... I'm angry about the $$$ involved, I'm angry at my old clinic, I'm scared our embryos are just all rubbish. They all tell me that we're fine, it's just bad luck, but seriously.. hard to hold out hope when everyone around you is pregnant, with their babies, or pregnant AGAIN in the time that you've been trying. I know you girls get this. It's so damn hard!

@jaguar: ugh, that sucks chick! I know you must be so disappointed. Hoping so much that this new clinic means a huge turnaround for you in your next stim cycle!!! It's time for some good luck to come your way! Oh, and also, it's so good that you thawed them all and grew them all out now-- imagine if this had been drawn out across several cycles!

@jaguar: I'm so sorry
On my end, after a freaking 18 days of stims for a TI cycle, I have just ONE follicle. I was really hoping for 3 for an attempt, oh well.

@PurplePumps: that's frustrating, but it only takes one. Fingers crossed it's a good one!
Afm, I got my date for my FET - August 5. Just started the estrace yesterday and the nerves (and a teeeeeny bit of hope) are starting to rear up.

@PurplePumps: Sending tons of good luck vibes in your direction!!! That sounds so incredibly frustrating... and expensive! When will your remaining consults be with the other clinics? Will they be by phone or in person?
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@momazon: Luckily, it wasn't too expensive, which is part of why I went ahead with it. I had the leftover pens and all the monitoring is covered by insurance 90% after deductible. I have 3 more consults in the following weeks, next Friday (local in person, just for an opinion, I know I'm not going to go to them), the following Monday (out of state on phone) and the Monday after (out of state on phone)!

@jaguar: *hugs*
@PurplePumps: Good luck with the upcoming consults!

So FET #6 was a BFN. Official bloods to confirm this week, but we're out. No embryos left, which means we're on to Stim #5 in the next month.

@jaguar: Big hugs!
AF is just starting, and we have a monitoring appointment tomorrow. I have a bunch of questions for him, but the nurse said the recommendation is IUI or IVF. My big concern on I have an FSH of 6, but AMH of 0.27. My understanding is that I am unlikely to produce many eggs in IVF. Has anyone had low AMH? How many eggs did you get? Is this a "will be fine, just need more drugs" or a significant likelihood of canceling? If my ovaries don't respond great, am I better off doing IUI? (Sorry if this is inappropriate for an IVF thread, I'm just trying to figure out the best plan for us and you ladies are super knowledgeable.)
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: If you're going to be stimming for an IUI OR an IVF cycle, there should be room to go either way. The first go with injectible drugs is a bit of a learning curve -- so if you're under responding, IUI might be best & if your ovaries react and go insane, you can covert to IVF. x
persimmon / 1114 posts
@jaguar: I am so sorry
@AmeliaBedilia: I don't know anything about how your numbers would affect anything, but I agree with jaguar that drugs are a learning curve. From a cost perspective, I would probably do an iui so you can see how your body responds and they could make adjustments accordingly.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@bloved: @jaguar: thanks. One ovary had 6 follicles, the other had 4 along with a corpus luteum cyst that was 13mm. He said the cyst was just under the cutoff to go forward with femara/ovidrel and estimated 12-15% success rate before he did the ultrasound. He said 10 follicles was a little low, but better than my AMH suggests- hopefully that means 15% chance. Is it possible/likely that there were more follicles that the cyst obscured?

HI everyone, I'm back for some advice. Forgive me for not posting much. I've found that I have less anxiety when I stay off the boards, but now I need some advice. I introduced myself several months ago when we were just starting IVF. I'm 42, have a 22 month old daughter we conceived naturally after two miscarriages. We've been trying pretty much since I was cleared for sex after her birth with no luck. I've since had a 3 failed rounds of IVF and 2 failed rounds of IVF. It looks like our 3rd round took. Maybe. That's where my question comes in. My first beta was 70 at 10dp5dt. They took two more betas which doubled beautifully. Last week at my "6 week" ultrasound with my RE they saw a gest sac and yolk sac with what they think is the beginning of a fetal pole. No heartbeat. My RE wasn't worried which I think is totally weird because aren't you supposed to have a heart beat at 6 weeks and about 3 days?
I'm going back on Thursday and weirdly, I'm glad I've had this week to kind of prepare myself for the worst. I'd rather just know my odds. They need to see a heartbeat this week. But it seems unlikely right? Shouldn't there have been a fetal pole and a heart beat last week? Everything I've read says that's when it typically shows up. I guess what I'm really asking is A) have you heard of implantation happening later with IVF and B) anyone with previous IVF-to-pregnancy experience not see a heartbeat in the 6th week? Thanks. And sending everyone positive vibes and good luck.

@MrsMed: It's so stressful, isn't it? We had our first post-IVF ultrasound at 6weeks and 1day, and we saw a tiny flicker of an early heartbeat but he couldn't measure it or anything, said it was just too early. They reacted as if I was very lucky to get to see it so early, so maybe it's less common than we think? Pre-appt I was warned that we might not see hardly anything, and not to be disappointed if we didn't get a heartbeat. Were the sac and yolk sac measuring on track? Good luck!!!!!!!! 10 days later mine was clearly visible and measurable at 153bpm.
