@PurplePumps: I agree with you! Even if I didn't have my Chromosomal issue, I would do PGD every time. After going through miscarriages, I want to do everything I can to avoid it again.
And it's probably a little different everywhere, but RMANY uses Reprogenetics and results take 2-ish weeks.

@PurplePumps: I’m sure it sucks to be one of the most veteran IVFers on here, but I’m inspired by your perseverance and determination. As @SweetiePie said - you’re not out!
@Winnie13: Drink a glass of Pinot Grigio for me, will ya? Waiting sucks, but it sounds like you have a solid plan that is probably best for everyone long-term.
ASM, my bloating got a lot better yesterday, and the feeling of not being able to take a deep breath only lasted about a day. I never gained any weight, so I didn’t figure it was OHSS.

We just found out our insurance will cover a good chunk of the PGD costs so ask first before you rule it out all!! I was shocked since my RE told us many times it's never covered. We have United Healthcare. They are scheduling the biopsy soon and then we'll get results back in 10 days from the lab. So hopefully only 2-3 more weeks until we know if we have any viable embryos left!
I'm waiting for AF to show up so I can start BC for my next FET. I'm on CD32 now which is crazy. Definitely not pregnant and I've never had a cycle this long ever in my life. Did anyone have this after back to back cycles? (as a reminder I did two FETs back to back. AF showed up right away after the BFN but now I'm just waiting....it's torture!)

@Mrs. Pajamas: Who are you using for testing? Are they charging UHC directly? IVIgen says they don't deal with insurance, but they can give me paperwork to submit for reimbursement. Do you know if it's considered "fertility treatment"? (cause my max is spent anyways from the cycle, so it'd be pointless to submit if it is).
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Mrs. Pajamas: that's so interesting! We have UHC as well and we definitely paid out of pocket for our PGD last time. Good to know for this time around!
All UHC covered last time if I remember correctly was consultation appts, anything diagnostic (ultrasounds, tests, etc) and my meds. That was it.
kiwi / 702 posts
UHC is covering the biopsy, and I believe the thawing/re-freezing since the testing will be done on my frozen embryos. @PurplePumps we're using a different genetic lab but they said the same thing. We don't have a cap on fertility-related claims so I'm hoping they'll cover that too. But we are prepared to pay if need be.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Mrs. Pajamas: good info, thanks! I was so naive last time, I just listened to the docs and called my insurance once and just floated along. I hate to think about how much we could have been reimbursed if I was more persistent. This time will be very different!

@SweetiePie: It will definitely be nice to have a cycle buddy!! Yes, I am a prayer warrior for sure! Thank you for your prayers and I will continue to pray for you in your upcoming cycle!
@agold: Thank you for your support! I'm praying to be a big believer in FET as well!
@LoveHope: Thank you!! I'm praying for you and that sweet little bean!!
@Mrs. Pajamas: That's awesome about your insurance coverage! I'm awaiting my AF to start BC as well! My nurse said it may take a little longer than expected because of all the meds!
@yellowbeach: So glad your bloating went down! When is your first Beta?
@PurplePumps: How was your day 5 update? Praying for you friend!
AFM, I'm still super bloated (a week later) and I've gained a total of 5lbs (over 3 days so nothing to be too concerned over). I'm super gassy and there is a ton of pressure on my belly! The nurse told me it could take another week to go away. It's definitely miserable and I'm really glad there is no little embie inside of me right now! Hoping and praying I feel better soon! This OHSS thing is no joke!!
So, side note on Wed. we discovered that the pharmacy had given me the wrong conversion for my PIO. Instead of 1ml, DH was giving me 2ml!! The pharmacy was mortified as was my nurse! I now have 2 huge golfball masses on my hips! I've been using the heating pad and massage to try to get it out... any other tips?
kiwi / 702 posts
@SweetiePie so glad I can hopefully save you money! I was shocked too. I didn't pursue it so I can't take credit. I got an email from my clinic's financial coordinator detailing the costs once I requested PGD. And she mentioned she would be running the biopsy through insurance "just to check". Well 2 days later I got a letter in the mail from UHC saying they were covering it. I still haven't gotten a bill from the clinic. And we're going to try to get the genetic testing covered via reimbursement. If they cover the biopsy, why wouldn't they cover the actual testing? It will save them money in the long run, right? And isn't that what insurance really cares about???
@Winnie13 oh great we are on the same schedule! I'm really confused as to why AF won't come but glad to know I have someone else in the same boat. Hopefully we will get to celebrate together in several weeks.
@Northstar how are you feeling??? When's your next ultrasound?

@Mrs. Pajamas: I'm trying to stay up to date with you guys, but honestly, haven't had time to post. But, thinking of you all and will try better next week! Our town was hit with major storms 2 nights ago and at one point 1/3 of the city was without power. But, anyway, I have an appointment this afternoon, but I think that it's just a doppler. My anxiety is super high and I'm not sure if I am too early to even hear anything. I'm feeling good. I was able to stop estrace and endometrin yesterday, which is awesome. Positive vibes, please!

@Northstar how nice to stop the hormones. I'm sure everything will be fine. Definitely sending all the positive thoughts your way!

@Winnie13: First beta is this Wed. Do most people test at home ahead of time? I'm a little afraid of the scenario where I test at home and the next day the outcome is the opposite.
pear / 1881 posts
@yellowbeach: I tested at home because I would be getting the call at work. I didn't want to handle that call when it's difficult to get privacy. So, I prepared myself by testing. In all situations that I had a transfer, I'm so glad that I did so. But, it is a personal choice.
nectarine / 2648 posts
@NorthStar: Hmm good point - I will also be slipping away from work to test in the AM and then will still be at work later on when I get the call. FOrtunately my DH and I work together, so we can find out together. I have a few First Response tests which I hear are very reliable. Maybe my fear of a false negative or worse a false positive is not warranted vs getting the news as a total shock at work.
kiwi / 689 posts
@yellowbeach: I wasn't going to test at first but I tested two days prior to my beta.
pear / 1881 posts
@yellowbeach: First reponse will be ok and give an accurate reading. Just don't do a digital one. Those take more HCG to get a positive reading, so you might get a negative when you are actually pregnant.

@Winnie13: Oh I am so very sorry you have giant lumps! I know from experience that those can actually be really painful, too. So I had my husband massage the shot spot for at least 5 minutes after each and every shot. Once we didn't massage because we were running late for an RE appointment and by the time I left the appointment a painful lump had formed. You should just keep massaging and applying heat. I would do it all the time. I know massaging the lumps hurts but just keep doing it. And try to get some walks in each day.
@yellowbeach: I think whether to test before hand or not is such a personal choice. After my fresh transfer, I decided to test at home the morning of my appointment. Well, it was negative and I was a mess going to the RE's office for my beta test, and a mess all day at work. So by the time the RE called to say it was negative, I was maybe just numb. Maybe testing the day before after work would have been better. A negative is a negative no matter how or when or where you receive the news. It sucks and you can only just do your best to prepare yourself for it. I'm wishing you all the best!!
kiwi / 702 posts
I have never in all my beta results ever received the call "live" at work. I would be a mess regardless of the outcome. I always wait for my nurse to leave a VM then listen to it together with DH when he gets home from work. Waiting is hard but it would be much harder to get bad news and suffer alone at work of all places in my opinion. Just my personal opinion of course.

@NorthStar: That's great that you stopped all your hormones!! How did your apt. go?
@agold: Thank you so much for the tips! Part of the problem was the no walking. I'm on Summer break and was pretty much on bed rest for how awful I've been feeling. The positive is, once I start it back again in Sept., I'll be working and walking a ton! Hoping the 2 months off gives me time to heal!
@Mrs. Pajamas: I'll be hoping AF comes soon for the both of us!! I have until Aug. 10th until any panic. I need to have some sort of AF and be on BC for at least 3/4 days before I start Lupron.
@yellowbeach: Rooting for you girl!
@Lovehope: How are you feeling?
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Winnie13: oh I didn't realize you were on bed rest! For what it's worth, I'm a big fan of both bed rest AND walking for different things. After my fresh embryo transfer, I did 5 days bed rest and it didn't work. With th FET, I only did 3 days bed rest because I was being a negative nilly and that did the trick! With early pregnancy, I bled for months and I did the most strict bed rest you've ever seen and I think it saved the baby. But now, walking every morning saves ME! So do what feels best for you and always listen to your doctor. Every doctor is so different on where they fall on the best rest issue. I really hope you get those lumps out soon! Just so you are prepared, a few of my lumps didn't go away. As weeks went on, they shifted lower and fell into my hips. Sooo painful. But now at 35 weeks, I think they are finally gone. That being said, I really didn't get hardly any lumps. I'm wishing you all the best!!!

@agold: Thanks girl! I really appreciate all the support! I was just told to rest because of my OHSS. Once the doc decided on cancelling my ET, I stopped my PIO. So, I just have 5 days worth, but the mass is still huge! I'm hoping they are gone when we get ready for our FET in Sept. So glad all your bumps are finally gone!! That's a long time, jeez!! So happy you are doing well!

@Winnie13: I'm feeling good. Bloated as all heck but no other symptoms. We have a ultrasound Tuesday and I'm of course nervous because going through IF really puts us all at edge.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Winnie13: Ugh the PIO knots are awful. I had nerve damage from mine and it's still tender almost 3 years later. I specifically asked if I could avoid PIO this time because of it and they said I can do suppositories and a pill this time.
@LoveHope: I can't wait to hear how Tuesday goes!
Well, sort of a bummer / slow start. I've been on BC for about 1.5-2 years now and barely get a period. Like I need a liner for a couple days and that's it. Well I finished my pill pack on Thursday and still haven't gotten the slightest hint of a period. No spotting, nothing. Which isn't totally uncommon for my BCP, but now I don't know if my next cycle started and I missed day 3. I called my RE on Saturday and the nurse basically said give it till Monday and if I haven't called to say it started, they will call me to tell me what to do next. She even said they may make me wait 1-2 weeks and if still nothing do a blood test to see where I'm at in my cycle. So now I didn't start the new BCP they prescribed in preparation for retrieval, no tests over the weekend as expected/hoped. So I'm thinking I'll be delayed another month. I'm really hoping I get something, anything, tonight or tomorrow so they can at least have me come in for a blood test.
On the plus side, I've been thinking more and more that maybe I do want another fall baby, so maybe it's for the best. I can do some travel in August for my birthday and my anniversary as I had hoped.

I caved and tested 7dp5dt. Never seen a second line before. Had to call my DH in to look at it for a second opinion. Not letting myself get excited yet. Beta on Wed.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@yellowbeach: Yay! Looking good! While you are awaiting the beta, we'll all get excited for you!!!
@Winnie13: I've not been able to post for a few days but wanted to let you know I went though something very similar with a a big retrieval, OHSS, unexpected freeze all and a rough recovery and about a 3 month wait until FET. The wait was so hard but, in hindsight, it was for the best and how it was meant to be. I was able to spend that time slowly healing (took me about 6 weeks+), getting back to exercise and preparing myself for the transfer. Wishing you all the best!
@SweetiePie: That's frustrating! Hope you get AF soon!
pear / 1881 posts
@yellowbeach: YAY! Sending sticky dust for the line to continue to get darker! What day is your beta?
@Winnie13: I wanted to send some support and let you know that I am also a huge supporter of FETs. I had 2 failed fresh transfers and then after my second failed transfer, I really worked on my health, lost about 6 lbs, did a cleanse, was limiting gluten and some dairy and tried to get to my most healthy self. After that, we had our FET the end of May and it was successful! I've heard so many positive FET stories and have no doubt that you will be one too!
Also, my appointment went well! we heard the heartbeat, but it still doesn't feel real. Hopefully it will soon!

@yellowbeach huge congrats!!! thinking good thoughts and big numbers for Wed.
@sweetiepie I can totally relate and I'm so sorry it's taking forever. I was getting super nervous about AF not showing up but thankfully she did yesterday!
@Northstar such great news about continued heartbeat. Really huge milestones out of the way already! Have you had losses before or are you just anxious due to IF in general?
@purplepumps how are you doing? any updates?
pear / 1881 posts
@Mrs. Pajamas: i'm just super anxious because of the whole IF. I am even having a hard time getting excited. I'll get there and we will be telling DD this weekend, which will help.

@yellowbeach: there's certainly a line. Praying for great results on Wednesday!

Ok so I need some help with sanity. I got that nice last night, but I wasn't 100% sure it wasn't just the trigger shot still. I had taken a HPT after retrieval, and prior to transfer (which was negative), but I made the mistake of using a cheapo Easy@Home test. Last night I took a FR, but couldn't be sure it was a true because I hadn't taken my baseline HPT with FR.
This afternoon, like a crazy person, I went to the drug store and bought 3-packs of CBE & FR HPTs. I got home, realized I still had an E@H test left, and again, like a mad woman, took all three. This time the E@H was as well. I'm trying to think of any scenario where that first one post retrieval could be negative, and this one positive. I'm so afraid of getting my hopes up (too late, I know), but I'm also clearly the most impatient person ever. Thoughts? And should I go cold turkey with the HPTs until Wed? Am I setting myself up for potential devastation?
On a side note, I also feel really guilty posting about this when there are people on this thread who are suffering much more, and have been through years of this stress. Just tell me to shut up if I'm that person whining about a good problem to have.
pear / 1881 posts
@yellowbeach: I highly doubt that it is from your trigger shot. If you count back how many days ago it was, it takes 1 day per 1,000 of HCG, so 10 days if you did the typical 10,000 of HCG. I think that you are pregnant, woman! I totally get the apprehension and hopefully you will feel better once you get your beta!
nectarine / 2648 posts
@NorthStar: Hmm I did Ovidrel for my trigger, which was 250 mcg, which from Googling seems to equate to ~6500 units of HCG. As a doc, I'm not fan of Google as a source of health information, but if that's true, I took my trigger July 11, so today is well past the time for it to metabolize out.
pear / 1881 posts
@yellowbeach: yep, then you are totally past that point and this is real!!

Thankfully my RE was kind enough to put me out of my misery of wondering. I asked about the conversion of Ovidrel to HcG units and this was the reply:
S,
I hope you are well! I am excited for Wednesday! Dr. L said the Ovidrel is recombinant, not animal derived. He said it equals 5000 units of HCG and any home pregnancy tests after Saturday should be legit, meaning a true positive! I am reading into your message hoping your test at home was a good one?!
Thank you!
Courtney
So my is real per my RE! My DH and I celebrated by getting a bottle of sparkling cider and taking a blanket to the park for a little picnic. I didn't even care it was 100 degrees out! I told him "I may be smelly but I have a baby in my belly so who cares!"

@SweetiePie: Thank you for your support!! They stink!! I'm sorry your cycle isn't going the way you thought! How did your apt. go? Get anything yet?
@Amorini: Thank you so much for this!! That is so encouraging! I'm looking forward to getting back to work and not really thinking about the IVF stuff for a month! That will be a nice refresher for sure!
@yellowbeach: Ahh!! Congratulations!! That is so exciting!! I am praying for you and wishing you all the best! I would say don't feel guilty. All of our journey's are so very different, but we all want the same end result! So happy you got your miracle!
