Ugh I got my new meds today and that included 3 that need refrigeration. Lupron, Ovidrel and gonal-f.
I unpacked them and set them on my counter and we had a big distraction (long story) and I left it there for an hour. Is it ok?

  2. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@SweetiePie: yes, they will be fine! An hour isn't going to make or break it. Good luck with the Stims!!!

@MissKabers: Thank you!! We go back next week for another u/s and then I should be released! So, just a little over 8 weeks! @SweetiePie: Girl, tell me about it! God's been teaching me all about this little thing called faith! Your meds should be fine! Gonal-F can actually be left out at room temp! I definitely wouldn't worry!! When do you start?

Hey all. Super happy to report I had my first ultrasound today and saw that amazing little flicker of a heartbeat and everything looks great!

I have to get a refill of pio and though ivf is covered by my insurance pio is not. Bizarre right? Are there any tricks to get lower cost pio and del estrogen?

Hope everyone has a fun weekend planned. Hugs to all!

    kiwi / 613 posts

@Mrs. Pajamas: YES!!!!!!!! That's awesome!! Congratulations on the wonderful ultrasound and seeing the heartbeat! Isn't it the best feeling?

How much have you been quoted for the PIO? Luckily it is generally one of the least expensive of all the drugs - I think only like $80 a vial? (I'd have to look up my receipts but that's close.) Apparently there's a nationwide shortage of Delestrogen and my nurse said some pharmacies are marking it up to over $700!!!! I just ran out but they're letting me switch to Estrace (but inserted vaginally) for the remaining week).

@Mrs. Pajamas: congrats on the ultrasound, lady! Such wonderful news!

Tonight more lupron and starting menopur. Here we gooooooo!
Don't have any monitoring till Tuesday morning.

@Mrs. Pajamas: @momazon: If any of you guys still need PIO, I ordered some 2 weeks ago cause my doc uses it for backup in case of too much bleeding that would interfere with the absorption of Crinone. Obviously I don't need it right now, but my price through insurance was $30 a vial, and I have 6 if you ladies want.

  12. Mrs. Pajamas

    kiwi / 702 posts

@PurplePumps: wow that's super generous. I actually found a spare vial yesterday that was full. I'm also waiting to hear from my nurse and hoping I can start to wean but I'll let you know. Thanks! How are you feeling? Hugs to you lady.

@Mrs. Pajamas: My last childless friend from college just announced her pregnancy at lunch yesterday. She's 15 weeks. She said they'd been trying "a while" and I asked her later if she had fertility treatments and she said that they'd been trying a few months, and did the consult, then was waiting for CD3 bloodwork when it happened. I couldn't help but just want to screeeeeeem... A few + 2 months IS NOT "A WHILE!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll tell you what "a while" @*#$@#($#@ means!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that this fucking blows cause I shoulda just been 7 weeks behind and it would have been so much fun to have our boys be so close in age. .... so I'm not having a good start to the week.

  14. LibbyLou

    kiwi / 739 posts

@PurplePumps: ugh I feel you there. I have people who say they "struggled" when clearly they did not. One college friend just announced her third in three years but says she gets me bc it took about 6mos + one round clomid for her first. 6mos does not equal 3 years. I know we shouldn't compare pain and try to win that fight but dammit we win it. And don't want to. I'm sorry.

  15. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@PurplePumps: I'm so sorry, friend. That is the worst when all you want to do is say something and have them try to understand. I am having dinner with friends this weekend and one doesn't know that I'm pregnant (I didn't do a FB announcement). She has had her last two within a month of trying each time, so I am just waiting for comments. We were closing in on 3 years and so few people get it. Hugs to you

  16. PurplePumps

    pomegranate / 3809 posts

@LibbyLou: @NorthStar: Thanks, its a shitty club to be in to 'get it', but oh well, here we are. She even said "I thought this would be easy, but it sure wasn't!". And of course I'm thinking.. no, you had it easy with a capital E You didn't have to stick a single needle in yourself or tablet up your vajayjay and leak goop 24/7... you had it easy. You saw a positive test and it didn't end in a m/c?? You had it easy. ugh, I hate thinking like this but I just can't help it.

  17. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@PurplePumps: It is totally a shitty club and 98% of the world doesn't get it. That's why I've totally stopped talking about it with friends and only with those who do get it (like you ladies). I'm sorry

  18. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@PurplePumps: you have every right to be annoyed/pissed/etc at those kinds of comments. I wish people knew how to just stfu.

I have a friend (husbands friends wife) who was crying and demanding testing after 3 months of trying and said they were struggling to get pregnant and understood how it feels when she heard about our plight. Insert head exploding emoji here.
I think it's one thing for them to talk about their experience/how they feel. Still annoying, but whatever, you only know what you know. But to then try and compare it to what some of us go through is just mind boggling.
I really try not to even compare my stories here because the range of what we all go through is so varied and while I have SOME understanding and empathy, I still can't possibly know how everyone here feels and what it's like to be in their shoes.

I also had another friend tell me "IVF is not that a big deal anymore" when I said I was struggling. Says the 38 year old who got pregnant twice very quickly and never had a miscarriage. Like, who the F do you think you are saying that to me? Just because it's more common doesn't mean it's not a big deal. It's a big fucking deal.

*Sorry i try not to swear on these boards but this topic fires me up.

So can relate to the rage of people complaining about having a "hard time" getting pregnant. Nobody know the pain we've all been through/are going through. That's why we have each other!

Hey ladies. So I had my first monitoring appt today since stims. It's been 4.5 days and nothing. He said it's still early but definitely slower than they'd like to see.
Disappointing that this still isn't working so well. But maybe since last time I ended up with double what we expected, this time it'll happen again? And maybe even a bit more? Idk. Having trouble seeing the silver lining in this one, LOL.

  21. momazon

    kiwi / 613 posts

@PurplePumps: Thanks so much for the offer of the PIO! I actually ordered enough this time (may even end up with a vial extra, since I was thinking I'd go to 12 weeks and now I might only have to go to 10.) I'm sorry about such a rough start to your week. It's so hard to deal with year after year of failure, and cycle after cycle of negatives, and devastating losses one after another. When you do finally get your baby in your arms, it is going to be so freaking amazing.

My HCG was down to 2 as of Monday, so we're planning starting stims next Thur for a target retreival day of the 21st or 22nd. Here we go again..... I cannot believe I managed to do 3 freaking rounds this year.

@#($*@# HELL! Has anyone ordered Leurpolide 2 week kit lately. WTF happen to the prices!?!?!?! It was 129 when I ordered in June and now they say its 389!!! And then I checked the next cheapest place on my list and it went from 200 to 425. ughhhhhhhhhh

  24. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@PurplePumps: omg - that's a huge jump! I'm guessing you have done some calling around?

  25. Winnie13

    kiwi / 501 posts

@PurplePumps: The entire journey just sucks. It's hard and emotional and draining in every way imaginable. It's so hard when you have everyone around you getting pregnant and you just sit and wonder why. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I am sincerely praying for you and your next round.
When I bought my 2 week kit in August, it was 385. Ridiculous how much money it is! I would definitely call around, but that sounds about right.
@SweetiePie: Praying you have a big jump at your next monitoring! I can't imagine how frustrating it is to hear that though! Sometimes I can't believe how absolutely ignorant people can be about infertility. IVF not a big deal???? I would have just lost it!

  26. PurplePumps

    pomegranate / 3809 posts

Ugh yeah, so I checked around and asked my doctor about it and he confirmed price of Lupron has gone up a ton recently. Luckily, I asked around about the Lurpon trigger instead of the Lurpon 2 week kit, and it was only 1/3 of the price, so he gave me a prescription for that instead.

  27. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@PurplePumps: oh good. I even looked in my stash of leftover meds last night. I do have a whole box of the syringes, if you need some, but obviously, no med since that would have needed to be refrigerated. If you need any estrogen patches or endometrin, let me know. I know that I do have some left.

  29. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@Mrs. Pajamas: hi! Thanks for checking. Went in yesterday morning and he said I had two small on my right and two bigger on my left. I always forget to ask for sizes, I don't know why.
He said I'll probably have retrieval on Tuesday. I go in tomorrow morning for monitoring and (hopefully) trigger instructions.

Is that still pretty pathetic for being on the microflare protocol? Anyone with that knowledge/experience? I don't know why but I thought I'd have a bumper crop this time with the new protocol.

@PurplePumps: is the 2 week kit what you get for microdose?

  31. SweetiePie

Had my monitoring this morning (Sunday) and I had 4-5 growing nicely (her words). I watched her measure and I think I saw 3 in the 15-17mm range one about 14mm and one about 20-ish.
I just triggered at 9pm and go in again tomorrow morning. Then retrieval on Tuesday at 9am. Election Day! Hope I'm feeling ok to go. Fortunately our polling place is in our back yard - literally look down on it from our apartment!

6 eggs. So, less than last time but still slightly better than my last scan showed. I'm not sure how I feel. Kinda indifferent.

@SweetiePie: how are you doing? What's your total egg count now? You guys are doing PGD batch testing soon I think?

Just coming in to beg/vent. I'm apart of the IVF world on instagram which is full of awesome supportive people like those on here. Well I bought some meds off of someone who was going through her last round about 6weeks ago. I paypal $900 to her and still haven't seen the meds. I feel like I've done one of the biggest no-nos on the internet!! Don't send money to strangers. I'm embarrassed and pissed. She was active and responsive so I had a good enough feeling (as much as you can dealing with strangers I suppose). I realize it was a deal for me to be getting a lot of meds for "only" $900 but it was cutting BOTH of our costs.
If any of you see Menopur or gonal f for donation, will you let me know? I have until Jan to look so will probably order next month what I'm missing.

  36. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@LibbyLou: omg, no! that's horrible. Isn't it illegal to sell meds? It's not like you can even go to any authorities, I would imagine? I'm so sorry! I would totally give you some if I had some leftover.. I do have the following left (but unsure of amounts): estrogen patches (minivel and vivelle) and some endometrin. I might have a few other things, but nothing of significance. Can you somehow call her out on IG or elsewhere?

@SweetiePie: I meant to respond to you about your retrieval and totally spaced. I hope that in the past few days that a few of those 6 are still hanging around. You will be doing testing on them, correct? How are you feeling otherwise?

  37. LibbyLou

    kiwi / 739 posts

@NorthStar: yes it's very illegal 🙈 . I was new to the IG world and didn't realize most donated. I'm mortified. I'm way smarter than this! (So I thought). My RE hasn't said anything about estrogen patches or endometrium but I'll keep it in mind if it comes up. I wouldn't want to hoard it if it could help someone else!

ETA I have her phone number and asked for a refund but of course crickets.

  38. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@LibbyLou: oh my goodness I received $2,500 in donated meds, so I know how awesome it is to get discounted meds. I don't understand how someone that has gone through IVF could do this to another woman?!

Maybe threaten calling the cops? Technically, she is the one who broke the law (or at least I would think so). She's the one that sold them!

Just let me know on the meds. I need to check how much I have, but they are just sitting there!

  39. Mrs. Pajamas

    kiwi / 702 posts

@libblylou that's absolutely terrible I'm so so sorry!
@sweetiepie 6 eggs is great. What's today's fert report? Rooting for you!
@momazon how are you? Haven't seen you on the June board yet.
@purplepumps where are you in cycling? Thinking of you...

  40. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

    @LibbyLou: @NorthStar: Thanks for checking!
So Tuesday was retrieval and got 6 eggs. Weds my fert report was 5 growing embryos. The nurse seemed impressed that we had 5/6 but we had a great fert report last time too and ended up with only two that survived biopsy and freeze. They looked "excellent" and they were still abnormal. So I'm not getting my hopes up.

@LibbyLou: my original plan was to batch them together but we decided the expense of just doing each round on its own was worth it if we got a normal and didn't have to do this again. So we tested last round and both were abnormal.
This time we will test again regardless of how many survive biopsy and freeze.
And that is bonkers about the $900. I would 100% report it. I know there's a chance you could get into a little trouble BUT maybe they'd be lenient if you're helping to bust a con artist? And I would imagine she was more the law breaker than you! Any way to put her on blast on IG and see if any other women were conned by her? I'd totally call her out! $900 is a lot of money and it's shameful that she would take money from women who are clearly going through enough expense. People are sick.
