    @paranundrum: How are you doing?

    @foodiebee: I'm doing okay, I'm mostly fine, but then have random hopeless low points thrown in there.
    It's CD 3, I called my doctor on Monday and got an appointment for next Friday, then they'll check if it's possible to do the transfer this cycle or I have to wait some more.
    After making that call I felt really down for some weird reason - we have only two embryos, they might not even survive the thawing process, it probably won't work anyway and I have to start a new full round so soon after the first...all the sad thoughts.
    I try to read IVF success stories, but most of them start with "After so and so many failed attempts..."
    I do understand, that most people who get pregnant on their first try probably won't write about it, but it's so hard to find the balance between feeling hopeful, but still guarded and understand that there's a good chance it won't work any time soon.

    @paranundrum: I totally understand. I had only six follicles going into my retrieval. They retrieved 5, and only one made it to day 5. We had a single shot at getting pregnant and no money or insurance to do another full round, so this was it for us. We were both 100000% sure it would fail. Not exaggerating. Zero hope. We were already grieving it. But it miraculously did work for us. It just goes to show, there are stories in both directions—trudging through years of hardship, and the one single time working. Your emotions are completely valid, and I hope life gives you cause to celebrate soon.

    @foodiebee: Thank you, it does give me a bit of hope.
    We are so lucky we don't have the added financial burden. Our healthcare system covers almost everything and while we have higher taxes, we don't have to pay out of pocket for appointments, procedures or meds. I don't think we could do fertility treatments at all it if we had to.

    @paranundrum: I couldn’t agree more with @FoodieBee. You may only recall my battle if 3 retrievals and 10 transfers to get this most recent BFP, but DD (turning 3 in Feb) was our first transfer on our first ever retrieval.

    That’s one of the shittiest things about IVF and infertility in general - you are often just waiting and hoping for your turn for the dice 🎲 to roll in your favor. Sometimes you get lucky and end up like my with DD, and sometimes you quit before your magic combo ever appears. And that is so cruel.

    @yellowbeach: Thank you, your story both gives me hope and terrifies me. I'm so happy you got your BFP at last.

    I hope things work out well for me, but at least now I know the stim cycle is doable and I can manage doing it all over again.

    Just checking in to see if as the US IVF clinics are slowly opening hack up if anyone has any retrievals or transfers on the horizon. 💜

    @yellowbeach: Thank you for thinking of me. Also I saw that you had your baby! Congratulations, he's adorable!

    I, unfortunately, don't have any good news. The last time I posted was when my FET was cancelled due to covid in mid March. I finally had my first ever FET in the beginning of June, but AF started before the test date. The next FET was in the beginning of July and the bloodwork done today came back negative. That's it as I only had two embryos.

    I'm due to start the next full IVF cycle in October, but we'll see how the virus situation plays out. We have it under control over here right now, very few new cases daily and a low number of active cases, but we're still bracing for a new wave in the autumn.

    @paranundrum: ugh that’s a heartbreaking update. Are you glad there’s a break until October or do you wish you could jump right back in? Hopefully C19 won’t have too much of an impact for you all, but you are right to be concerned and prepare your timeline for it.

    Hugs to you @paranundrum, I think all of us on this board have been there with disappointments and waiting, and starting from scratch, and then it all over and over. But then you hold your baby in your arms and it all goes away! Good luck to you!

    Just chatted with a friend last night who is doing IVF in CA with donor eggs and she is set to transfer next month so I guess US clinics are up and running again? I was pretty surprised! She said they gave priority to transfers involving women over 40 which is pretty great!

    We are adopting out our extra embryos and got a request for adoption back in May. We ended up turning down the request for various reasons, but still, I was shocked that the adoption could go forward when I thought clinics were shut down, but apparently they are doing some procedures.

    @foodiebee: @yellowbeach: @MoonMoon: @Mrs. Pajamas: Thank you all.

    Our clinics have been doing procedures since mid May, there was only a two month shut down. Right now I have to wait until October because both of our embryos were used and I'm on the waiting list to start a new full cycle. I'm not in a hurry because of my age, but I'd rather just get on with it.

    I have a family member who is about to start ivf and she is reeling from the sticker shock of all of the medications. I feel like I have heard people talk about lower cost pharmacies in the past. Does anyone have any suggestions of pharmacies that can FedEx medications were less expensive for ivf medications?

    @Shantuck: I thought I remember others using https://www.winfertilityrx.com/ when I was more active on the IVF boards a few years ago.

    @Shantuck: it's overseas and won't FedEx and can take up to 2 weeks, but ivfpharmacy.com or ivfmeds.com.

    @Mrs. Pajamas: Hey, thanks for asking! I'm doing ok. Just had a crazy scare last night actually. I started bleeding (just like I did at exactly this same time my last m/c) and I totally freaked out. Thought I was for sure gonna m/c overnight, but the bleeding slowed down overnight and stopped by midday today instead, so I'm hanging on to hope. U/S is wed, hoping to see a little embie with a heartbeat.

    My sister just had her egg retrieval today but apparently when they got in there, she had already ovulated and they were only able to get two eggs (out of 7+ that they observed yesterday). Since she appears to have just ovulated and several eggs were no longer in the ovaries, they are apparently also doing an IUI to try to make the best of this botched IVF cycle. Has anyone else ever heard of a joint ivf/iui cycle before?

  31. yellowbeach

    nectarine / 2648 posts

    @Shantuck: I’m surprised they were willing to do that due to the risk of multiples... unless they were only seeing a handful of follicles all the way along... sometimes if you don’t produce the quantity they will convert to IUI. Did she take her trigger at the right time?

    Hi! I'm a newbie, but just wanted to introduce myself. I went through 3 IUI's and two retrievals, 2 fresh transfers, and 1 FET when I was between 32-34. I unfortunately had two miscarriages (from the 2nd fresh transfer and the FET - transferred 2 each time). After waiting a long time (too long) I decided I wanted to try one more time before I couldn't anymore. I'm now 38 (turning 39 in December), and can add age to my other issues of PCOS, hypothyroidism and endometriosis.

    I feel a little more emotionally prepared this time. When I first went through IVF I was convinced it had to work, I was on the younger side, I thought I just needed some help. I was completely gutted going through the whole process. At that point in my life, I couldn't see my life without a child. These years have shown me that it is possible for me to be happy, even if I don't have the children I desperately want. I'm hoping that because I am in a better place emotionally, I might have an easier time dealing with IVF this time, but we will see.

    So here I go again...I just had my day 3 testing and my FSH was 7.65 and AMH was 2.48. However, my thyroid (TSH) was completely out of whack at 5.98. So...I need to get that under control before we can move forward. Next TSH test is in 1 month (fingers crossed). Sonohysterogram scheduled for 10/6.

    I'm glad I found this board, since my DH and I aren't telling anyone IRL that we are doing this again. It's tough not to have someone to talk do (aside from DH who is very supportive). Best of luck to all of you!

    @Swish1227: Welcome! You are definitely dealing with a lot emotional and physical health-wise but the tone of your post does sound like you are in the right frame of mind and that is so important! Wishing you all the luck and love on behalf of all of us veterans...please keep us posted on your journey so we can cheer you on.

    @Swish1227: Good luck! These boards have been very quiet so I have yet to officially join the IVF board.

    I also went through 3 unsuccessful IUIs. I did 1 IVF retrieval - the fresh transfer resulted in a chemical pregnancy, but the FET resulted in my 17 month old daughter. I now have 8 frozen embryos left. We were unexplained and ended up doing the IUIs and IVF after a naturally conceived pregnancy that ended at 19 weeks. We still have no idea what the issue was when we tried to conceive again...

    My husband and I find TTC naturally super stressful so we are planning to do another FET in a few months, as IVF is less stressful for us somehow - I know that seems odd! We are thinking January, so still a bit of a ways away. Im cheering for you and hope that this cycle works out! Im here if you want someone to chat with about IVF!

    @Swish1227: welcome! Happy to provide support and encouragement. I'm hoping to be a bit more active on this boars again. We are doing a FET on Oct. 14.

    @Fawn: Thank you! I noticed they seemed pretty quiet, but thought I would pop on and see if anyone wanted to chat. Congratulations on your daughter! Honestly, we think TTC is super stressful too, and I don't blame you at all for just doing another FET.

    @winter_wonder: Good luck with your FET! Keep us posted!

    @Swish1227: Hi! I just want to welcome you, as well. I was on this thread for a while and there were awesome girls on here at the time. I hope you find a nice group here for you now. I am so happy you are feeling good about giving IVF one last shot and that you actually are finding a way to afford to do it. Being in a good headspace definitely will help. And its awesome you are are so happy in your life right now with your husband. I think that's such an important thing emotionally becuase so many people seem to go through IVF like its a life or death thing for themselves. I really was going to be okay without kids, too. We had a house picked out at the beach and planned out our awesome child free life. I seriously think about that life all the time! But I'm not trying to be insensitive here. I just am hoping for the best of luck for you!!

    @Fawn: @swish1227:

    Hi! I’m also headed for IVF this fall/winter.! Hooray! Friends!

    I have a three year old son (no issues conceiving) and unexplained infertility. We’ve been trying for the past two years and had a miscarriage in February. We’re in an injectable cycle this month while we do the last of the testing (infectious disease panel, a final sperm analysis) and I have all my fingers crossed we have a transfer by December. We started the year off at the RE, so optimistic that I’d be pregnant by the end of the year, but then, 2020 exploded.

    All of my friends IRL are fertile mertyles, and I know they’re trying to understand, but I would LOVE if we could get these boards running again so we could have more of a support system!
