Were you told "no strong aromas, no make up, no perfume, no hairspray" for transfer? I'm trying to remember if I used regular Dove soap last time or if I just skipped soap. I don't remember the "no hairspray" rule.

I don't remember hairspray, but specifically no deoderant at all or anything else with scent. We both just went au naturale the day of transfer, and I think just a water shower. The embryos are so fragile, we didn't want to risk anything.

We weren't told anything like that, but I had read it online, so as a precaution we didn't use anything scented like perfume or deodorant. Pretty sure we both showered normally that morning though (transfer was at 1 pm fwiw).

Yep. I go light in the deodorant and shower the night before so hopefully my soap doesn't smell too strong.

I wasn't told this for either my IVF or FET, but I think I'll ask about it this time around. Curious what my RE will say...

@Leialou: that's a good idea. I think I'll shower tonight after exercising instead of in the morning. My transfer is at 10 AM so I should be fine if I shower by 8-8:30.

@swedishfish: So transfer is this morning then? Good luck PUPO!!!!
And just in case anyone references this thread in the future, my RE told me no perfume or scented lotions but that was it. And that was every patient for every visit, not just me on transfer day.
I find it so interesting how different each doctors protocol is!

I was told this for both transfer and retrieval. I bought Ivory soap and unscented deodorant for those days. I don't think they listed hair spray on my forms, but that makes sense. I'll check when I get home.

@swedishfish: Oh whoops! Haha. I thought you were posting last night about the transfer this morning. Well still wishing you luck
And since you're a Dove user (I am too) they make an unscented bar soap and I'm pretty sure you can buy it in a single or two-pack

@swedishfish: Good luck tomorrow!! I'm so excited for you!!
My clinic has signs posted in the IVF halls and doors about this. I showered normally that morning, but no perfume or deodorant. Same for my husband. No cologne or deodorant.

My clinic just said no perfume, jewelry or makeup on retrieval and transfer days. I assumed it was because of the OR, not the embryos. They're never out in the open air anyway (they go from incubator to catheter to uterus). Good luck tomorrow @swedishfish: !!! I'm so excited for you!
