    @Kaohinani: so how'd the scan go 😬

  2. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

    @Sams Mom: So here is the dealio -

    1) The largest present follicle is still around 15.8 which is not optimal BUT there is time for it grow (1-3 mm per day) before the ovum releases. (They "prefer" to see about an 18 mm follicle for optimal fertilization.). Today's tech (I adore her) and I are remaining positive that for an unmedicated cycle, there is still time and a chance for it to mature. Also, this has been my latest [unmedicated] OV in nearly a year! I am at CD12 and my BBT is still low and my OPKs are riding "high" and nearly pos. This longer time to OV has lead to ...

    2) My lining looking FABULOUS this cycle at 10 mm. The RE requests a 7 mm for IUI or IVF so, 10 mm IS optimal for implantation. They are very hopeful that IF my follicle can get its act together, THIS cycle "could" look good for me, atleast, statistically speaking.
    In order to verify where I am in my cycle and when I should return;

    3) I had to have blood drawn. At this time, it could not be determined whether or not I AM ovulatory or I am pre-ovulatory. There was not enough fluid in the ovary (surrounding the follicle or what "would be" the corpus luteum) to demonstrate ovulation. I should have the results at some point today.

    4) I was directed to continue with the BD-ING. Oh, and the tech was more than happy to use the Pre-seed for my exam.

    Overall, a 90% positive visit, so, I'll call it "good," and spend the day hoping and praying for amazing LH, estrogen, and progesterone numbers which allude to me being able to OV with an awesome eggie this cycle. πŸ˜‰πŸ™πŸ€žπŸ˜

    @Sams Mom: Update -

    I am pre-ovulatory and will be going back TOMORROW (9 am) for a scan and more labs.

    Today's results:
    LH - 26.5
    Est - 42
    Prog - 2.2

    The RE's only concern is that at 15-ish mm, the follicle is small and may be immature. A day or two may only afford 1-3 mm added growth (16-18 mm follicle) before fertilization [hypothetically] occurs which may not be enough for a successful BFP. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ We will see.

    @Sams Mom: Good news. While my ovulatory period and follicle size may not be "optimal" this cycle, my medications (injectables) were approved for next cycle (unless something unforeseeable happens in the meantime)!!!! πŸ‘πŸ˜ The RE's nurse called and said that he may allow DH and I a cycle or two of injectables with timed intercourse as it appears my ONLY issue may be timely egg maturation. πŸ™‚ The best news --- If we do a cycle or 2 of meds with πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί BD-ING, our insurance will pay for meds and scans (* πŸ’β€β™€οΈ They do not cover meds with IUI or IVF)!!! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ I am STOKED! πŸŽˆπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ

  6. Sams Mom

    grapefruit / 4492 posts

    @Kaohinani: hell yeah! Injectables will help with your eggies doing their thing, and your saved extra appointments for IUI & the cost of IUI. 🀞🀞🀞

    If this cycle fails due to ovulating an immature follicle, atleast I know next cycle will have the possibility of a silver lining! πŸ˜‰πŸ™‚

    So, Glow is now saying O is 1/14. Of course my cycle would get a bit wonky the closer we get to TTC...after being super regular for years. My scans are 1/18, that's when I might get the clearance to TTC. So...my guess is I am out for January. HOWEVER, I'll still be doing OPKs to confirm. On a positive note, all scans have been ordered, I'm pre-registered and insurance has authorized, so I'm a step further than where I feared I might be.

    @Kaohinani: I'm so happy to hear your appointment went well and there are good chances for this time to work AND you have a plan in place for next cycles as well! All good news!

    As for me, FF confirmed cd12 OV and I'm 3 dpo today. My new POAS date is 22.01. We hit O and hopefully it did the trick. I'll attach my chart below.

    I had the weirdest dream tonight. I went to the US to visit a world-renowned fertility specialist. There was like a large group appointment. At first everyone went to see him separately and when he had had a few minutes with each of us, there was a large group session. The doctor was super rude and unpleasant, he treated me like a degenerate from Eastern Europe, I'm pretty sure he was certain that I didn't understand anything he said. Well I did and it wasn't nice.
    The better part of the dream was the group session after. You were all there too! Special thanks to Kaohinani, who was very nice and friendly and chatty and made me feel welcome after the abysmal doctor's appointment.

    @Paranundrum: Glad your OV was confirmed. πŸ‘ You had quite a dream last night! 🀣 While some Americans can be abrupt and seem rude, I can assure you the majority (and, in particular physicians) would be fairly understanding if someone were to travel internationally for specialized care and English was but a second language ... atleast I would HOPE so. Besides, your written English is nearly immaculately composed so I would imagine your spoken English would be lovely as well. πŸ˜€ Funny, you had me "chatty" even in your dream. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

    @SweetCaroline: @MrsKansas: @Sams Mom: @Yellowbeach:
    Long-winded RE update time! πŸ‘πŸ˜‚

    β€’ Yesterday I I OVed at CD12. Bloodwork has not come back yet to verify; however, I have fluid in the pouch of Douglas AND my BBT skyrocketed this morning (* chart affixed). The U/S showed the possibility that I OVed from BOTH sides πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ BUT both were smaller follicles (15 to 16-ish on Left on a possible 14 on the Right) so they may be immature and unable to fertilize, implant, or may contain chromosomal abnormalities. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Out of the 20% chance that one can become pregnant each month, with immature follicles, it becomes 3% that it will fertilize, implant, AND be chromosomally sound ("normal").

    β€’ Plan for NEXT cycle IF I miss my 3% window to conceive THIS cycle:
    - Call on CD 1 and take "injectables class"
    - Scan and bloodwork CD3
    - Begin Follistim AQ injections (nightly) on CD3
    - U/S during cycle every 3 days then every other
    - Ovidrel trigger shot for OV
    - Planned Intercourse (or IUI dependent on growth of follicles)
    - Crinone (Progesterone gel) - morning application after OV
    - More U/S
    - Potential Beta bloodwork

    Soooooooo, yeah, that is EVERYTHING I know for the moment (and now YOU ALL know it as well πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚.). I'm pleased to know my chances for this month and to have a backup already in place for next month (*which will be our THREE YEAR ANNIVERSARY trying for a #3 πŸ™„).

    @Kaohinani: I’m not sure whose 2WW will give me more anxiety, you’re or mine! 🀣 no matter what happens this month, plan for next sounds solid. I think this monitored cycle was a good thing. All the monitoring without introducing any variables like meds.

  23. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

    @yellowbeach: I concur! 🀣 I think YOUR TWW will cause me nearly as much anxiety as my own as well! πŸ€ͺ🀣 (#TeamYellowbeachBFP ALL the way! 🀞 )
    Wait until next month to begin getting anxious over mine because that is when the good stuff starts. πŸ˜‰

    * The RE's nurse just called with my Progesterone levels to verify OV. I went from 2.2 (yesterday) to 4.8 (today) which is representative of OV. With only 3% chance of successful conception this cycle, I will not be holding my breath. #HopefulButRealistic

    K, endocrinologist update for anyone following along.

    They're scheduling a thyroid ultrasound to confirm goiter or cancer? I know thyroid cancer isn't scary like other cancer; they'll just kill it or take it πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

    He's running a full metabolic panel, FSH, LH, Prolactin, fT4, fT3, TSH, free & total testosterone.

    We suspect possible testosterone issues causing egg issues, also maybe insulin resistance so might start metformin. Recommended to reduce or eliminate gluten, but I love the glutens 😬

    I did find out that his wife and him had to use IVF for their 2 kids 13 years ago. So I have someone that has been on the patient side of it, and it makes me feel better.

  26. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

    @Sams Mom: I am sorry your news wasn't better, BUT I think ALL of this testing could be great as it will afford you definitive answers and provide you with guidance for effective care. With your thyroid issues corrected, the right hormonal therapy and the new meds for fertility, a BFP is within sight! πŸ˜‰

    P.S. I wrote back to the email you sent me. IDK if you saw it. πŸ™‚ Also, my novella about today's RE visit (which you inquired about) is posted ABOVE ⬆️.

  27. mrskansas

    nectarine / 2813 posts

    @Sams Mom: Can I ask why they suspect testosterone issues? I'm also curious about why they recommend eliminating gluten.

  28. Sams Mom

    grapefruit / 4492 posts

    @mrskansas: the testosterone could be an issue from all the ovarian stimulating drugs I did Feb-Oct of last year. (At least that's what I took from it) Gluten free comes with my Hashimotos diagnosis (autoimmune thyroid) and it's supposed to reduce inflammation. Less inflammation = hopefully my body getting it's shit together. 🀞

  29. mrskansas

    @Sams Mom: oh that makes sense. I was just wondering because with my PCOS diagnosis I assume that I have elevated testosterone as well.

    Metabolic panel and Prolactin came back all within normal range. TSH came back higher than 2 1/2 weeks ago, even though I'm on a higher dose, and fT4 came back high normal πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Still waiting for free & total testosterone, LH, FSH, fT3 to come back, wonder why they're taking longer.

    Also the ultrasound clinic didn't call to schedule my ultrasound 😠

    πŸ˜” 5dp5dt

  40. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

    @Sams Mom: Most of that is awesome news ! Sometimes, separate panels take longer bc they have to be centerfuged, frozen or heated prior to testing, etc. πŸ’β€β™€οΈ I am not certain the protocol for free & total testosterone, LH, FSH, fT3 but I do know that MY prolactin and progesterone tests take mere hours and my LH and testosterone testing (as well as any anticoagulant and glycoprotein testing) takes 24 hours to 3 days depending on the office administering.

    @Yellowbeach: I am so sorry your HPT isn't a BFP this morning. πŸ˜• Of course (trying to be positive here), atleast you know the trigger (if you took one this cycle) is out of your system. Also, I know this probably is of very little comfort, but 5dp5dt (10 dpo) is still pretty darn early ... why not wait until 5dp7dt (12 dpo)? We are all cheering you on. πŸ€žπŸ™
