July POAS: 6+ Months...

@MaryM: Thanks so much for your two cents! I feel the same way about not wanting to worry about learn a new tracking method. I am in the same boat with insurance only covering diagnosis and not interventions.

I did end up calling the RE and I would have to go through the same records transfer and file review process so I feel like I'd be starting all over with them. They also didn't sound enthusiastic when I told them what insurance I have! My husband says maybe we can put more money in our hsa next year if nothing has happened by then. It's nice to know that the RE is there if I feel like it's going nowhere with the NaPro OB though! I figure I should at least give the OB a shot, especially since it sounds like yours went with the SHG. My pregnant exercise instructor told me she went with a procedure like that, either HSG or SHG and that alone helped her conceive after a year of trying so that seems worth a try! I like the sounds of it being able to be coded as a diagnostic test as well. I appreciate your input!

@AMommyThang: Congratulations! I'm so happy to see a positive for this month!

@KittySunshine: Also, I've met a lot of IFers that have used full on NaPro doctors, and I think there's a lot more benefit to Creighton than just charting. The practitioners have a lot of knowledge about what hormonal imbalances might be causing certain cycle issues and it's a lot more detailed than just a sympto-thermal chart. I was thinking about looking into it before my BFP.

And my doctor's office offers classes that they'll charge to insurance under a birth control code so most times it's covered.

So my first beta at 4 weeks 2 days is 105 I'm hoping that's good. They want me to do another one on Wednesday. Today would've been cycle day 30 and 16dpo..praying for numbers to double!

@kittysunshine: Just wanted to add that like @marym, I also got pregnant right after my SHG, and it was covered by insurance because it was diagnostic. My mom also dealt with IF and got pregnant with me the cycle after her HSG. It could be coincidence, but I think it's worth a shot!

Thanks all. Every month I wish I had a doctor I trusted that I could turn to for help. Right now that's the hardest part. I feel like I'm out of options in my area now that the womens clinic won't work with us. So frustrating.

Ladies I am so ready for August. This month has been so depressing for a lot of us! Here's to hoping next month will be a bit happier

@AMommyThang: You're definitely pregnant! Hope you see some doubling tomorrow!

@2farmmoms: That clinic still pisses me off, I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for you.

@lovehope: hugs. I hope we see more BFPs in August!

@Ms.Line.. Thank you! I will definitely update on my numbers tomorrow.

@ms.line: Yeah. It makes me really angry if I think about it too much! I think you must've edited your post, but to answer your question, I have actually had quite a bit of testing done. I did cycle day 3 testing, an HSG, and a bunch of other basic bloodwork. I also had an ultrasound on cycle day 3. Everything came back looking great, so that is good. My wife reminded me today that our at home method was often clumsy at best and sometimes I believe we just failed completely and everything fell back out. And our first IUI was with a midwife who had never done fresh sperm prep before. So if you think about it that way, we've only had one really good solid try, which was last month. I'm going to try to focus on that so I don't feel so discouraged. Maybe this will be our cycle. We are planning an IUI with the more experienced midwife and the proven donor (he's successfully donated to other women before) on the weekend of our first anniversary. Hopefully that'll be it for us! If I remember right, you had success with clomid...but I can't remember if I asked what dose you took? I took 50mg last cycle on days 3-7. The script was originally for 100mg, so I'm thinking maybe I should take that this month. Any suggestions? I'm refilling it today. At least I got something out of the expensive doctor visits at that horrible clinic!

@2farmmoms.. I hope so. I started googling beta numbers last night ...worst idea ever!!!

@2farmmoms: I edited my post before because as soon as I asked I remembered that you were already checked out and got the all clear! I think that's a good way of looking at it - I know couples that had no known issues (and were hetero, so no DIY insemination) and still took 8-10 months to conceive. It's still totally crappy, but I really hope this donor does the trick for you in the next cycle or two! I took Clomid for two cycles, and the cycle after (unmedicated) I got a BFP - I'm still confused/shocked by it! I took 50mg my first cycle and 100mg my second - I think I actually had *fewer* symptoms on 100. I'd try out the 100 if I were you - I don't think it can hurt!

@ms.line: oh ok, well, whatever works right? I'm going to try 100mg. I think the biggest risk is multiples. We would be overwhelmed with twins, but we have talked about it enough and I know we could do it. And the plus side of twins would be that we wouldn't have to go through this ttc process again for a sibling!

@2farmmoms: I took 50mg the beginning of the cycle and my follicles didn't do much, so then my RE started me on 100mg mid cycle. That one produced one nice large follicle! I really hope that this works for you!

@sslm: Can you move my POAS date to 8/4? I think that I said it before, but doesn't look like it was updated. I ovulated week late this cycle..thanks!

    pear / 1770 posts

@2farmmoms: I felt the same way about twins. There would be a lot of crappy aspects, but it would also be kinda cool, plus no more TTC! Even with Clomid, your chances of multiples are still very low, so it was worth the risk for me.

Updated... Anyone want to start the August thread? I feel like I am too flakey to host.. haha. There's also the possibility (likelihood) I won't POAS in August (due to the fact that AF only likes to visit every 50+ days).

@sslm: if no one else wants to do it, I can certainly host.

@2farmmoms: are they doing monitoring for you? If so, that would reduce the liklihood of multiples (they won't inseminate if you have too many). I also got my BFP after my second round of clomid (first month 50, second month 100, taken days 4-8). I also had less symptoms on 100 than I did on 50.

I'm not sure if this will help or not (I really hope it does, because I mean it to be inspiring, not sad), but it took DH and I over 2 years. We are decently healthy, had good (and most of the time great) timing, and no known fertility issues. I had an HSG and tons of testing, and none of it helped. Clomid was apparently what we needed even though I ovulate regularly on my own.

Also, we started with triplets, but are now down to one healthy baby.

I said all that to say that I hope you don't get too discouraged, you have a lot of amazing and helpful options left that have helped even those of us that have been in the trenches a long time.

I really hate that you are going through this, and I hope the tweaks you are making with the new midwife/donor help. ❤

@MaryM: @ms.line: Those are good things to hear and add to my list of ideas and questions for my appointment in a week now. Thanks again! It's nice to have hope.

@LoveHope: If you start an August post I would join it! POAS date is supposed to be 8/14 for me but since I'm irregular I'm not sure I can confirm that yet. Definitely hoping August is a better month!

@NorthStar: Sounds good! I'm starting it tonight, except I forgot to pick it up when I was in town so I guess I'll have to go back.

@ms.line: Exactly. It's a risk I'm willing to take at this point.

@Crystal: Unfortunately, I don't have the option of doing any monitoring at this point. I live in a remote area and have very few options anyway, but the clinic nearby that does fertility stuff has been problematic. Long story short, they won't do inseminations with fresh donor sperm, and because they aren't doing my inseminations, they basically won't work with me on monitoring or anything else. I MIGHT be able to make a case for it and really push them into it, but I was very unhappy with their care before all this happened (they did some initial testing before they decided to fire me as a client, and I had a very hard time getting any questions answered. I never once spoke to the doctor after the initial intake appointment, and the MA who called me every time was completely clueless.) so I'm not that interested in forcing them to work with me. At the moment, I'm on my own with the clomid. That's kind of a scary thought, but I'm aware of the risks and I don't intend to do it for more than a couple cycles. If need be, I'll have to travel about 4-5 hours for any more work ups.

It looks like I'm the last to test this month. I'm still here, following along. I'm planning on testing tomorrow morning. I was planning on waiting until Friday, but now I have an appointment with a chiropractor, so I want to make sure I have the most up to date info for them. I just started temping again on Tuesday and my temps have stayed nice and high, but I've been having some pretty unsettling cramping since last night. I hope it goes away! I'm somewhere between 17 and 13 DPO, but I suspect I'm 17 dPO.

FX really hard that this little guy is going to stay in here for nine months!
