Does anyone else read her blog? She is Sherry from Young House Loves best friend. If you're following her on Instagram..how do you feel about her posts?
For those who aren't she is putting up pictures of herself in labor and very detailed descriptions of whats happened so far. She's been in labor for about 24 hours and is putting up like 2 pictures an hour. I don't need to know that much about her labor lol!

Honestly? Whatever it takes to get through labor... if Instagram does the trick, the more power to her!

I don't mind. I mean, those who don't want to read it don't have to, and some people might be really interested! Maybe the distraction helps her, so I'm cool with it!

My philosophy is - "When you're in labor, you can do whatever the hell you want."
Seriously. I've had mamas sing, scream obscenities, text everyone they know, dance, watch movies, play angry birds... whatever gets you through.

I don't mind it. However, it kind of seems like she's sharing for the sake of over-sharing instead of "getting through."

@c.sassy: That's kind of what being a blogger is all about though, don't you think? Putting your life out there for the world's entertainment/education. Personally, I love hearing labor/birth updates from my favorite bloggers, because I feel like I know them.

I don't know, I'm kinda torn. On one hand, I personally find it a little odd/much, but then again, no one is making me read it/see it. She has quite a few people following/commenting/interested, so I guess, why not!?
Don't get me wrong, I personally would not engage in posting this much info., but like @Arden: said, "whatever gets you through!"

@Arden: I love hearing the stories, too. But I'd rather hear some of them after the fact. I feel like the birth of your child is something that you kind of want to be "in the moment" about with your family, not a bajillion other people. Blogger or not. Some things can still be shared without being made a spectacle.

It def. is neat to see but I would nevveer do that. I hadnt thought about it in the sense of her being a blogger, so it makes sense for her. But if a friend was doing that I wouldn't be as interested, it's oversharing. Like people updating facebook or twitter that much during it.

Seriously, she's been going through an induction for over 24 HOURS. I say she's allowed to post a picture every time she has a contraction if it helps her through!

Lol as long as I don't see a crowning shot, I'm cool with it.
I wouldn't do it myself though. I was way too out of it anyway. I remember being mad when DH was texting updates to family and not focusing on me. I was in labor for 44 hours so he kinda had to text them because they were all freaking out (and in different states)

@MrsTiz: That is a bit of an exaggeration, it was a really long induction and she posted maybe a picture every few hours, not even every hour. None of the pictures have been graphic AT ALL. She has over 100 likes on each picture and people are asking for more updates.

I like birth stories and all that but there is such a thing as too much sharing. I think it makes it less personal and less special.

I really didn't think it was so bad. This is one of the opt-in/opt-out situations that makes the Internet so damn lovable. Some people love to share in the moment ... doesn't mean it's right for everybody.

I love reading birth stories and I've been following along. It doesn't bother me. I wouldn't share as much but her blogging style is a little more open and I do enjoy it!

@Thehistoryofus: I didn't say they were graphic, just detailed. Which they are, how many drops of Pictocin, how dilated, etc.
Apparently people like Instagram more than Facebook, there has been a million threads about over sharing about birth on FB but apparently seeing is is different?
I wish she would hurry up and get to posting pictures of the baby, that is something I actually want to see a lot of

@mrstiz I think instagram is a more specific audience - I would guess that the only people who are on it are people who really like details and seeing photos whereas Facebook has ended up being really open. I have past professors, elementary school friends, family members, etc. all on Facebook - I can't imagine that if I were to have an public Instagram anyone but my young-ish peers and maybe close family would follow along. I could be way off though - I don't get the appeal of Instagram used publicly and just use it on a private account with my husband to share day to day pics back and forth.

@mrstiz @mango.sprays posted up above he was 10.3 - so I was going from her! Her oldest little boy is so stinking cute. I really liked her post about not "falling in love" from the start - I read about it where someone was criticizing her for putting that online where her son could read it some day, but I really appreciated the honesty since I'm sure shes not the only one.

@scg00387: Oh I love her writing, I liked her letter to Jeremy about why he is her boyfriend, too! She is so open and actually writes about feelings that are easy to connect to!

I actually enjoyed following her and I thought it took a lot of strength and willpower to do that during labor!
