Ours is September 1st as well. You can, of course, elect to have your child start early, but it's a lengthy process. Unless my child was extremely bright, I think I would rather he/she start later for a better chance at success.

This must have changed over the years because my birthday is at the verrrry end of August, and I had lots of friends in school who were younger than me in my grade (like December birthdays!). The cut off must have been December 31. Now I think it's September 1. Weird to think my life would be very different if that were the cut off for me since DH is a year younger than me, one grade, but has a birthday after the cut off. This means he would have still been in high school when we met and probably wouldn't have dated!

I believe ours is Dec. 31st.

My oldest didn't go to preschool she did Kindergarten twice though. And my youngest started Preschool when she was 3 and will be starting Kindergarten in August at 5 years old.

charlie is going to be the smallest kid in his class because he already is small, and he has a dec 10th bday. we are not going to hold him back so he will be 3 when he starts pre-k and 4 when he starts kindergarten.

October 15th here, but in some school districts they make kids take a test if they are born after August 1st to see if they are ready. Our due date is October 6th, and I plan on waiting a year, that is most common around here. I would rather her be older than the youngest.

At the school district where we live, the cut-off date is Sept 1. At the next district over, it's Sept 1 as well for Kindergarten, but you can apply for "early" admission to 1st grade if the child is in a private pre-school/pre-k class taught by a registered kindergarten teacher, passes some tests and interviews, and turns six between Sept 2 and Dec 31.
My due date is Sept 23. We are probably going to move before LO reaches school age, so we will have to take this into consideration when we look for a new place to live (plus, they may change things between now and then!) I would rather send early than late, personally.

I'm in Central VA and it's September 30th here. I'm due at the beginning of October and I'm torn on whether I want to delivery early or late (really, it's not in my hands though). My brother was a 10/10 baby and my mom held him back from starting young and it was the best thing for him.
I can't believer NY is Dec 31st!!! That's so crazy to me b/c of how it is here.
