So I don't know the official statistic, but from what I have read and heard, it seems that 1st time moms have a tendency to deliver past the estimated due date(when going into labor naturally not induced)
I'm 37 1/2 weeks and cannot imagine waiting another 4 weeks ahhh!
Just wondering what everyone's else's experience was? Did you go early, late or on-time with your first baby?

I don't have children yet, but two of my friends do. One was induced one week after her due date and the other was induced two weeks early due to complications.

Today is the 3rd day past my due date.. and I'm still pregnant. there really is no description for this feeling. Logically I always knew the due date was just an estimate but now that I've gone past it I feel frustrated especially since I know my OB will soon push me to get induced because she doesnt let her patients get to 42 weeks,

I'm with you! I hit 38 weeks yesterday, and I just want to cry thinking about the possibility of being pregnant for 4 more weeks

I am five days away from my due date and still no baby. I cannot imagine having potentially wait another two weeks for her! I read somewhere that only 3% of babies actually come on their due date. My doctor told me for first time moms, it's most typical to have your baby either 10 days early or 10 days late.

Had surgery scheduled for end of march. That's when the kids wanted to come out as well because I went into labor the same day!

My water broke 7 days before my due date and I delivered 2 days later. I actually would have been happy to go a bit overdue... oh well

@Mrs.M57: My doctor said that most of her firs-time mom patients deliver at 39 weeks. However, I also go to a high risk specialist so most of her patients are dealing with something like high BP, GD, birthing multiples, etc.
My Le Leche League book says that the average first-time mom delivers six to eight days after her due date.

I know they say first babies are usually late, but in my circle almost everyone gave birth early. Charlie came on his due date. My ob says it's 50/50 in her experience.

Looks like everyone has had pretty mixed experiences, I am hoping on maybe making it to 39( crosses fingers!), past 40 just seems so long to wait to meet my little one! oh well, i keep trying to tell myself she'll come when she's ready, and as long as I have her in my arms at the end of it all it doesn't matter *positive thoughts*

I'm 38 weeks, and my Dr said I have at least 2 more weeks left. Our son is in no rush to come out!

I was 6 days late.
Funny that most on here went early. Most of my friends were late with their first and my OB said his patients tended to go 4 days over with their first.

I'm surprised by how many *early* votes there are!
I haven't given birth yet but almost all of my first time mommy friends went early! In the last year, two went one month month early (one was induced b/c of medical issues), two went 2 weeks early, one went 1 week early, one went a few days early, one went on her due date, and one went a week late.

Almost all of our friends have delivered late with their first babies... most have been very late (like 1-2 weeks late). But I was sure throughout my entire 3rd trimester that our baby was going to buck the trend and arrive early. In the end I started going into labor 5 days before her due date, and she was born 2 days before her due date.

I'm amazed at how many stories have people 1-2 weeks late. At 41 weeks, (if I got that far) I would be induced--the military hospital won't allow him to stay inside after 41 weeks!

I was induced 2 days after my due date after a day of prodromal labor with DS...
This go round I had DD 12 days after my due date, I am against induction unless something like a bpp or nst showed it medically necessary.
