Want to make a kick ass, motivating labor playlist. Think upbeat songs like Eye of the Tiger or punny ones like Ring of Fire. I'm more mainstream with music tastes, if that helps. Suggestions please!

This just might be me, but I preferred calming music (think "what a wonderful world"). So I might make a couple different ones depending on how you feel.

@Mrs. Pickle: love it! I am going to tell my hubby that one.
I didn't even think of having a labour playlist/music, but that may be a good idea.

I was so in the zone I don't think I would have noticed what was playing in the room. I barely remember DH being there.

@Banana330: Ditto- In fact, I think music might have pissed me off. Like extra sensory input I didn't need.
Girl on Fire (Alicia Keys)
The Final Countdown (Europe)
Roar (Katy Perry)

I ended up listening to more calming music too - bluegrass. I think next time I'd consider enya.

When I was pushing K out, Inner Ninja was playing. Coincidence, but it made it into the playlist for a reason!

Ha! Music would have pissed me off too. Like, wtf Johnny, how can you crone on about the Ring of Fire until you push a baby out your vajayjay?!

@Ash: Yeah I was going to say this, I made a playlist of calming indie rock type music and it was the best. Nurses, midwives, and lactation consultants all complimented my music when they were in the room I used it for nursing for the first couple weeks too.

@Banana330: So funny as I started off with my hypnobirthing mix and was immediately pissed off. I think at some point DH put on Mumford and sons but I cannot confirm anything because I was making guttural sounds during labor or humming my own tune to keep me on track.
Early labor: relaxing songs like Mumford
Upbeat: Florence and the machine
The fray
Snow patrol
Katy perry
T swift

With LO2 this week I listened to the radio in the car to try to keep my mind off of traffic. I only remember hearing Rhianna's Rude Boy or whatever it's called and deeming it acceptable.
With LO1 I built a whole playlist (iPod hasn't been unpacked from labor bag but I'll try to grab it and post some options). I thought I would want upbeat music since that's what I worked out to. I ended up listening to Enya for two days straight (apologies to DH and my doula). If you have time I would make a few playlists just in case you're in the mood for something different.

@Mrs. Coral: June wrote it
I made a playlist and never used it. It was similar to my gym playlist, lots of motivational tunes.

@Anya: Those are good ones!!
@Mrs. Pickle: Yes!! Haha!
@Ash: I have regular calming music too, in case I'm more in the mood for that.
@travellingbee: We had The Final Countdown written down but I hadn't thought of the others!

@Mrs. Pickle: you beat me to it! My husband actually played this when I started pushing, haha

When I was in labor with my first I was listening to Bob Marley before I made them shut it off, I needed silence.
Some on my upbeat playlist I had were:
Lots of old school Destiny's Child (Survivor, Independent Woman, ect.)
Nelly
I had a lot of early 00s stuff since that's what I like (listened to in HS)

I listened to my EDM playlist while in labor. My mom thought I was crazy since it isn't very relaxing music, but I didn't want relaxing, I wanted distracting. I thought it was perfect!

@Corduroy: Same! I can't hear Little Lion Man without thinking about giving birth.
Sadly I pushed for a long time so I was able to listen to 2 Guster and 1 Mumford and Sons albums. We didn't have a play list, DH just starting playing music from his phone he thought I might like. I have told him to make sure those are still on his phone when it all goes down this week!
