Anyone have a healthier lactation food recipe? Something with oatmeal, Brewers yeast, flax but maybe not a ton of peanut butter or honey?

I used to make the cookies, but recently on the blog there was a recipe for adding all those goodies to a bowl of oatmeal instead and it was much healthier. It was delicious! Ill see if I can find a link

I've never used PB or honey. You could try flavoring it with dates. I dumped a bunch of chocolate chips in mine.

@LindsayInNY: I would just dump flax and brewers yeast into whatever you're eating! I like the cookies but find that between the flour, sugar, and other stuff, it isn't a very healthy option (and when I do cut out the sugar, etc, they're kind of yucky). I think you can take capsules?

@blackbird: That makes sense... I could probably add it to smoothies too! Supply was a bit down today so now I'm paranoid.

@LindsayInNY: That was me last week (super stressed), and i lost a whole bottle a day all week long (wtf), so i had to pump in the evenings to make it up. Made cookies (gorged on cookies), Dh came home, my stress went away, and now i'm back to normal production. The yeast is super bitter so it's just kind of...unpalatable i think.

Pasta and Brussels sprouts for dinner! Add some flax seed and use light coconut milk, super healthy and tasty! http://thefitchen.com/2015/06/19/creamy-brussels-sprout-orrechiette/

@blackbird: I've heard that about brewer's yeast... Maybe I just opt for beer instead
@Mrs. Microscope: That sounds good!

Another vote for just eating oatmeal with flaxseed in it. Add a little coconut oil for the healthy fat. Flax seed and oatmeal can be a smoothie base too.

I did the oatmeal thing too. Spreading all the ingredients out among a batch of cookies means you have to eat a lot of cookies! More bang for your buck so to speak with a bowl of oatmeal and less sugar.
