I took another test today for reassurance, and it is fainter than yesterday 
it is barely there, a real squinter, where as yesterday was just light. I'm supposed to go in for a follow up beta tomorrow, so I guess I'll know more then, but it's not looking good.

Here is a pic comparing the two, today is on top. The line got a lot darker after a few minutes, but if anything I think it's the same as yesterday, not darker. The dye in the control line seems lighter in today's test, I'm hoping there was less dye overall and that's why it doesn't look darker.

@LAZB: There really seems to be less dye in the upper (today's) test. Tomorrow betas should give you a definite answer though! You are still very much pregnant today though!!! That line is very, very visible.
ETA: I'm by no means a POAS expert though - my rule is to stop peeing on sticks once a test is positive...

I don't know alot about positive tests but I really can't work out which is lighter and maybe your urine was just less concentrated? Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

@LAZB: they look the same! And it takes 48 hours for your hcg to double, plus you don't know the concentration of your urine, the test dye, so many factors that contribute to the darkness of the test. I'm very hopeful for you after seeing this photo, I thought it was going to be much lighter!

The control line does look lighter in the top pic, so maybe that's why. For what it's worth, my doctor told me (when I was worried about the same thing) that those tests are just pass/fail - if there's a line, you're pregnant. Thinking about you.... If you're very worried, could you ask for a beta today?

@LAZB: a FRER has 6miu sensitivity. Your hcg should double every two days.
Let's say yesterday, the first day you tested, you only had 6mui of hcg in your system. Today, you'd have 9 -- so it makes sense if the line wasn't super dark. Tomorrow, you'd have 12. The line still wouldn't be vastly different.
With that said, home prefnancy tests are analog. They measure if you are pregnant, not how pregnant you are.
If you're looking for concrete numbers, you'll need your doctor to order a beta so they can measure your hcg levels and see if they're rising.

Even if hcg is doubling, it's so low at this point that it might not make a huge difference in the line darkness within 24 hours. I would sit tight until the beta comes back. -

As someone who has had 2 miscarriages I know how easy it is to let your mind go to a bad place, and how hard it is to stay positive! But I agree with what Mrs. Jumprope said, one day isn't really enough to be comparing lines based on hcg, and even after another day there are still too many factors to worry about!
You are pregnant, enjoy it! The only thing that will tell you definitively if this is failing is the beta, so try to stay positive while you wait for your 2nd results! xoxo and lots of love and prayers! -

Try not to get discouraged! The lines look nearly the same! Like everyone has said, this early there won't be a big difference from 1 day to the next. FX, I think things are still looking good!

I agree with PPs, the lines really do not look that different! Also, the clarity of the lines on a HPT are not necessarily a good indication of the pregnancy's viability. Don't panic and trust the betas!

I'm glad you posted a picture bc those look exactly the same to me! I also had a mc so I understand it's hard not to think negatively but I think it's unfounded here. I'll be thinking of you and hope you get good results at your beta!!

They look the same to me! How many do are you? My 10-11-12 dpo tests all looked the same and then I didn't test again until way later and it was super dark.

@yellowbird: Today is 13 DPO. When I was pregnant the first time my test was this dark at 10DPO, and by 12DPO it was way darker. I guess that's part of my concern, although I know I could have implanted later. -

I honestly would not worry at this point. It took my tests over a week to get darker. You are pregnant my dear. Keeping you in my thoughts though and throwing some extra baby dust your way!

You were all right, I needed to step away from the pee sticks. HCG came back today at 127.3 up from 41.8, so basically tripled! I'm feeling a little better

ahhh the darkness of the lines drama - been through it myself! the first time i got pregnant, the lines definitely, noticeably got darker, and that ended in a miscarriage. the second time, the lines didn't get any darker and i was sure i was having a miscarriage - i'm 32 weeks tomorrow! you absolutely just CANNOT rely on the darkness of the lines on these tests!! glad everything is working out for you!

i got my BFP on late saturday night and early sunday morning... i don't have a doctors appt until July 16th so i feel like i have no idea whats going on in that time! Are you getting your beta's tested because you've had issues in the past and you're more monitored? Just wondering if i should try to get some tests done....

@LaughLines: I think my doctor does them as standard practice, but it could be because I was on Clomid and have had trouble getting pregnant in the past, and also because I've been lightly spotting since 8DPO. It is definitely not always necessary for everyone. I haven't set up an actual appointment with my doctor yet, but it will probably be around the same time as yours is. -
@LAZB: woohoo! Yay! Those pee sticks look like mine for my dd and they never did get darker. Could just be the test. i dont really notice a difference at first glance. A lovely HB lady told me to step away, I did, and it worked out! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
