Has anyone ever purchased "local honey"? I'm seeing it being recommended for kids with allergies. But what do you do with it and do you think its effective at all?

When I was young we would get honey from my uncle who had a beekeeping business. I never had an issue with allergies until I moved 3 hours away for college! I truly think eating local honey helped. My mom would make us peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Or sweeten our iced tea with it.

I think it depends on your severity and allergens. I tried local honey (daily) when I first moved to Texas, and I still ended up getting allergy shots. I am allergic to grass, trees, animals, dust, etc.
I've read that you need to be eating local UNFILTERED honey to actually ingest the pollen, which is not always easy to find. I still buy local honey, but more to support local bee keepers than to help with my allergies!
For dosing, I'd just give your kid a spoonful daily. But it's excellent on Greek yogurt, in tea, on toast, with peanut butter.

I buy local honey at a farmers market regularly but I don't get much sense that it helps. I enjoy it enough with yogurt and stuff but can't say my allergies are any better.
