I def do not have 350 to spare on something like this, haha! I did it the free way; co-sleeping, lol

@snowjewelz: Actually, they retail for $89...still an expensive doll, though! And we are currently co-sleeping...though I would buy one of these in a heartbeat, if it meant that DS (12months) would be content staying in his crib overnight!

@FliegepilzHut: haha so true.. I guess if I went back to when DD wasn't STTN, I'd totally be odering it at 3am!

for me i was a bit paranoid letting sleep with anything in her crib until she was much older and by then she wouldnt have been fooled by the doll

@Mrsbells: Hmm...that's a good point. My kid just seems to need extra soothing.

I bought one about a month ago here in New Zealand (paid $110 for it) and it has definitely helped. My lo was 11 months at the time and still had all her naps on me during the day because she would scream in the crib. Got lulla and after having it down my top for the first day (to get my smell on it) lo has been sleeping in her crib for every sleep, I now just put her in the crib awake and walk out, she cuddles and talks to lulla until she falls asleep so it was definitely worth it to me and I already plan to buy another of we have another baby. I know it can be hit or miss with different kids but it worked for mine

I ordered one a few weeks ago, but it won't be here until October. We cosleep which I love, but I would like to not have to lay next to her when she naps during the day.

@Coffee-lover: I hear you on this...I think I am going to have to bite the bullet on this one!

You guys have me convinced that I need one, because my son sleeps SO much better on me than in his crib, but I don't want to wait two months!

@FliegepilzHut: I keep on fantasizing on what I could do with 2 free hours everyday if she ever naps by herself. The possibilities are endless!

After looking at this, I feel like you could do something similar with almost any lovey. Put it close to you so it takes on the scent of mommy. Our white noise machine has a heartbeat sound, but we use the ocean sound cause it's more like white noise.

I have 2 Lulla's haha they were gifts. So far they have really helped my newborn to self settle. She's 7 weeks and I don't have to rock her to sleep, she just settled on her own. It's not an issue having it in her crib as the doll has Velcro straps to secure it to the crib so it isn't a sids risk. Definitely helpful but not a miracle cure for all babies. Works very well for Toddlers and young kids as well

Ordered for October delivery...will update once we've tried it out!

I ordered one too! They're sold out all over Canada but I found them in stock at John Lewis in the UK - it's being delivered to my British in-laws tomorrow and they're going to send it along.

@erinbaderin: That's smart! Will you let me know how it goes? Or maybe write a blog post?

Ok...I simultaneously received my Lulla doll (slight mark-up but new on EBay) and read this review. I am laughing so hard!!! Let's hope this works or at least helps...

Oh, I keep meaning to come back and update! Although I'm not sure how helpful this will be. We've had it for about a week and a half, used it every night and at naps. The thing is that W is actually a pretty good sleeper - he usually wakes up once a night. I mostly got this because I want him to stay that way, B is 2.5 and sleep is his biggest issue. Also because I'm eventually going to need to train him to fall asleep not in my arms, and I'm hoping this will help. So....it hasn't make his sleeping worse? And sometimes he naps for longer than 30 minutes, which was a real problem before. My husband says the breathing creeps him out but I find it soothing. The thing I hate about it is that it shuts off after 8 hours - why?!?! Babies sleep for longer than that? So every night I turn it off and back on to reset the 8 hours when I get up to nurse him in the middle of the night.

@erinbaderin: This definitely helps! We're just recovering from a cold, which has always been a bit of a set-back where sleep is concerned (or maybe it's a Wonder Week?!), but I'm looking forward to trying it out. Also, aren't older toddlers also supposed to find it soothing?

I heard that it's also good for older toddlers - hopefully this can be Dubs' sleeping friend for years! So far so good:

@erinbaderin: That's adorable! B gravitated to it immediately and seems content to lie on/with her...but doesn't seem to like the sound? I may try it again...or maybe we would've had more luck if we'd introduced it earlier?

@jaguar: Yeah, I definitely hear that. Desperation and sleep deprivation can make you do crazy things!

If anybody else gets this I definitely recommend reusable batteries. We've had it for two and a half weeks and are on our third set of AAAs.
@FliegepilzHut: what if you turned the sound on after she was asleep?

An update from me on this. We've used the Lulla doll for all sleep since we got her. About two weeks ago I switched W to 2 naps a day and at the same time stopped rocking him to sleep and he handled it like a champ - never cried, just started going to sleep on his own no problem. Except last Friday, when he cried off and on in his crib for 90 minutes with me going in and out - he didn't want to be rocked to sleep, when I'd pick him up he'd twist and push me away, but he just couldn't settle himself down. After an hour and a half I gave up and got him up to try a stroller walk and realized I'd forgotten to turn on Dolly. Obviously I can't prove causation, but....interesting. He's been fine ever since.
