When I was home with the girls and now on the weekends it's usually leftovers.. Sometimes I make breakfast for lunch! Or dumplings. I also always have homemade stock in the freezer and will cook some rice noodles and shrimp with stock and make shrimp noodle soup.

C has just started eating wraps or "pinwheels"- usually cheese and avocado. It's a big step since she's always just dismantled them and asked for the insides. We also do a fair amount of grilled cheese or PB and J plus whatever cooked veggie I have leftover or sliced tomatoes, which she loves. Or leftovers.

Or like today, she can refuse the ziti and meatballs leftovers and I can throw dry Cheerios on her tray.

Today he had:

Leftover BBQ chicken, cheese, grapes and cucumber. I'm pretty sure he only ate the grapes.

Yesterday he had: grilled cheese and strawberries.

I often do a snack plate of things like cheese, veggies, fruits, crackers, etc.

@Bao: I try to make sure one meal a day is like a real meal. So whether that's lunch or dinner depends on the day. The other one is often thrown together like everyone is saying, and f we are out for lunch it's almost always cheese sticks, veggie/fruit pouch, and maybe cut up fruit.

@Bao: I think as long as there are some healthy food groups it's good! .... But literally today he only ate the grapes on his plate, so what do I know! Haha

@Bao: Here's what E ate at school last month:

When he's at home on the weekends we have easy food...I make and freeze big batches of meatballs (baked, with ground turkey and spinach), and he might eat some of those with mac and cheese and a vegetable, or eggs, or a quesadilla with beans on the side (kid is weird...he'll eat beans cold straight out of a can!)

@Bao: It's a lot of very kid-friendly food, but eh. He particularly likes the english muffin pizza.

I am terribly repetitive with his lunch/snack food. School provides morning snack and I provide lunch and afternoon snack. Pretty much every day I send him with cold cuts and cheese (or leftovers), veggie pouch, cheese stick, yogurt, and fruit cup. They give him most of it for lunch and then a couple things for snack.

I posted about this recently but I've cut myself slack on having a super well rounded meal with 8 different options. Most lunches LO will have either a sandwich (peanut butter or turkey & cheese with just one piece of bread folded) or a hot dog, with a "side" of fresh fruit or vegetables. For vegetables she will have often have shredded carrots which I have found are easier for her than carrot sticks and she dips them in hummus. She likes to eat grape tomatoes with hummus as well.

@Bao: I feel like I'm constantly in a food rut with my two year old because he's so picky. He would eat Mac n cheese every day if I let him. Today he had a leftover slice of pizza, side of carrots, and a yogurt. A daycare go-to that I pack for him is cheese, crackers, fruit, and yogurt.
