I'd definitely take your charts with you! A short luteal phase and spotting that early are signs of low post-O progesterone. I would personally ask for a 7DPO bloodtest to check it during your next cycle.

I have a history of very low progesterone that contributed to 2 early pregnancy losses. During this pregnancy I've had to be on progesterone supplements along with progesterone in oil injections in order to help my natural progesterone production but some other things that I've done and would recommend are starting to take a B complex vitamin and using a topical progesterone cream. I was able to get both at my local Whole Foods. Good luck! Report back and let us know how it goes!!

The cycle before I got pregnant, I had a 6-day luteal phase! I never had it so short before but I was starting to suspect that I ovulated later than I thought (a few days later than FF indicated). All of my blood tests also showed I didn't ovulate -- although I never skipped a period. When they check your blood during the initial stages of fertility testing, they do it at a typical 28 day cycle, so I knew they were testing early as I had an average 30 day cycle. But they repeated it at a later date and my heart sank when the tests still showed low progesterone.

I was still suspecting that I ovulated late and FF was just starting to pick it up. The cycle before I was planning to go in for an HSG (ink test to see if your tubes are clear) I got my BFP!

I'd read a lot about luteal phase defects and although there's a lot of talk about it, there are some doctors that dismiss it. But as pp have said, there's ways to lengthen your cycle.

My suggestion: keep BDing and try not to stress about it. Even when you think you've already ovulated, keep at it. If I did that, maybe we would have gotten lucky a lot earlier.
