I know several mom friends but I often will come online for advice before going to some of my real life friends. I know it sounds lame, but I "know" several people on the boards that have children similar in age that over time I feel match my personality and parenting style. As much as I love my friends, some of them aren't great with advice.

I tend to be more in the "majority rules" camp. I have a few friends who have kids but I like to hear from several moms before I make my up my mind on a topic. So online sources are great because you can hear advice/information from a bunch of moms.

I always come here for advice before I ask friends/co-workers. I'm not really sure why, I prefer it but I do. I think I do so because everyone has a different parenting style, and I've seen people get offended by others well intended advice. I'd rather avoid that if I could.

I come here. If I ask my friends, I only get one or two opinions, but if I ask here, I get a bunch of different perspectives and that helps me SO much more.
Where else do I have the opportunity to get the opinion of hundreds of moms and soon-to-be moms without being judged?? It's awesome

It depends if I think any of IRL friends would be able to help. But it is generally easier to come on here and ask a question and get a response pretty quickly!

I usually look on here for advice, but mostly because I don't want my IRL friends to know we are TTC.

My friends think I am crazy so I can't go to them. We also don't agree on parenting styles exactly. I do a lot of research and they just do whatever they what to expect book and the pediatrician says. I have one friend who blows off the fact that I can't eat dairy and soy for the baby. Yeah, sounds like I need new friends but it is hard to make them.

I generally go online because as a general rule you can count on a bunch of strangers to give you honest answers more so than friends.

It depends. If I remember my friend talking about my issue I know she's been through it so I'll ask her. If I'm in a hurry to know an answer, I'll post it here. Or sometimes I do both.
