I'm really considering and lying to my family that this cycle is over for us if I end up doing the IUI next weekend.....they already know I started the cycle, but I could say I didn't respond to meds or something
I feel that I want to be able to give them and me that surprise factor of all goes well. ........ thoughts?

Don't see anything wrong with telling them the cycle was cancelled, etc. You do whatever makes you most comfortable & perhaps having others not know will take some pressure off. Good luck!

I never told family that it didn't go well when it did, but I've kept things from them because I didn't want to talk about it.

I love surprises and would go for it. My husband is another story, and he would worry that it would build up expectations and hopes too much. I say to go with whatever feels right for you and your DH, and really hope this IUI is the one for you!

Thank you ladies... it's not so much the pressure as it is that I feel so many other aspects of TTC are taken away from you. ....no POAS as I know by B/W I can't really surprise DH....lol....so I really would love to still give that family surprise factor a shot, more for my personal joy, but if it goes well for theirs too!!!!!

I wouldn't lie just to have a surprise factor if they have been supportive and in the loop all along. But then again I'm not a fan of the whole attention getting part of getting pregnant which seems to be a big deal these days..

I definitely evade the truth, but it's about feeling pressure etc - we don't talk about our TTC or issues at all to family.
I'd say do whatever feels right to you! if you really like the surprise aspect, I could understand that.

I wouldn't lie but that's me. My family supported me through infertility and they still let me tell them in my own time...except for my mother who guessed.

Yeah I'm back and forth.....lol I can bend the truth when that tome comes and some how some way still surprise them!!!! Thanks ladies.....

I got so tired of people asking after the first few failed ones, that I just started being really noncommittal about everything until we finally did get a BFP.

@FaithFertility: Noncommittal sounds like a good compromise. Honestly if my family lied to me after I'd supported them through the whole IF process I'd be a little sad and that might kind of affect the announcement..not ruin it but make me just feel a little weird. No info either way and then an announcement would be more happy. Just my opinion!
