I use oatmeal powder in bottles and add some to runnier purees. Is this the exact same thing and grinding oats into a powder? We have old fashioned oats for us, if I grind them to a powder, can I use them for the baby?

@Mrs. Polish: no idea. But I know that rolled oats is stripped of some nutrients. ie Not as nutritious as steel cut oats which is more of it's natural form. I buy steel cut oats and grind them into a powder for making oatmeal. I reserve rolled oats for baking, making pancakes, waffles etc.
Are you talking about adding to bottles or feeding?

I used straight up steel cut oats, once I finished the baby cereal one I had.
In a pinch, I've also used rolled oats and I have also ground it in the food processor.

@locavore_mama: I do both. Less in his solids, and usually only if it's runny like the peaches he just had.

Yes! I eat old fashioned oats and have always ground them first into a powder to give to LO. Now that she has moved on from purées I don't grind them anymore and just prepare as I normally would for myself.
