I talked to my OB and she made the call that I'm definitely in the early stages of mastitis. I feel like crap but she just called in my antibiotics. I'm so thankful i called and we caught it early! If you had mastitis, how long before the antibiotics kicked in?

I would say I started feeling better after 24-48 hours.

it's so awful. I took ibuprofen, pumped/nursed and did hot compresses constantly (hot shower with water hitting your breasts should help), and tried to rest as much as possible. Hope you start feeling better soon!!!

I felt better after a little over a day. Definitely take some ibuprofen to help with pain and fever! My OB recommended I take the 600 mg ones I had from the hospital. Feel better!

I think it was about 24 hours for me. I was already taking Ibuprofen and pain meds, because I got it about four days after my c-section (what fun! not). I recommend Ibuprofen, that helped a LOT, though I do think that is the reason I didn't think of mastitis until I was much further along (like two full nights of very high fevers, whoops).

About 36-48 hours to really get over the terrible flu like symptoms, a little longer for the blocked duct to resolve. Feel better soon!

24-48 hours sounds about right. Consider using a probiotic in addition to your antibiotic to reduce your risk for thrush. It's the last thing you want after having mastitis.

definitely by 24 hours. maybe sooner. i also took a probiotic and so did olive which i highly recommend! good luck!
