@pui: we got our 2nd puppy last September, partially as a way for me to ease my baby fever until we were ready to start, and it definitely helped to have a little furball to nurture while I waited to get off bc!

@pui: I think it's either fluke or something else... If I wake up before my alarm (usually hour to hour and half before), my temp is still in line with what's "normal" for that time. I guess we'll see tomorrow morning?!
@MrsKoala: I hope so?!
@doxielove: Yay for O!!!
@LovelyPlum: I really hope so too!!

@LindsayInNYC: sorry, I don't mean to make you crazy. I'm just really excited for you!! But we all know how symptom spotting can go, so I will try to tamp down my fervor a little over here

@LovelyPlum: Haha, no worries, I'm doing it to myself too!! Friends arrive tonight so I think the next couple days will fly by Just gotta make it to Monday!

@doxielove: yayy!
@pui: good luck tomorrow!
@lindsayinnyc: Even though you said it's not typical for you, I would definitely have a wacky temp if I got up an hour before. FX!

I was expecting O tomorrow but I got a negative opk today so it will probably be Friday. We have been trying for EOD this week but DH just got called with a work crisis so it will not be happening tonight and it can't tomorrow either due to our schedules. It is hard not to stress and it is hard not being able to talk to anyone about it since no one IRL knows we are really trying.

I'm out this month. Started spotting this morning.
I hope we can squeeze in a few more BFPs this month though!

@pui: I was thinking about you this AM so I thought I'd pop in and say good luck today!

@mrs. 64: Sorry I've been there too and it's frustrating. The first month I used OPKs, I got a positive at the worst time and we basically forgo even BDing. DH was really sick and it just wasnt worth even forcing. Plus I didn't want to have to remember that as the time we got pregnant. Can you give it one last shot on Saturday?!

@LindsayInNYC: Stalked your chart this morning... excited about the temp rise!
@pui: Hope your appointment today goes well!
bananas / 9229 posts
@MrsKoala: You and me both!! Waiting to see what happens now... I'll get to temp tomorrow and Saturday but then we're heading out of town for Saturday night and sharing a hotel room with friends. We'll have to see if I can discretely temp without looking/sounding like a total crazy person! Otherwise I'll have a gap for Sunday.

Just got back from my appointment.
The doctor took me seriously, which was a huge relief. He believed me when I said I wasn't ovulating.
He gave me papers for bloodwork and an ultrasound. He's pretty sure it's PCOS. He also is having my DH give a sample of sperm just to make sure we're okay on that front.
He said that if the bloodwork/ultrasound show up as PCOS, the first drug he would try is Metformin (also called Glucophage), which is apparently for Diabetes, but can regulate cycles also. After that he said we'd try Clomid, or the two drugs together.
Any bees have experience with Metformin?

@pui: So glad that your doctor listened to you and that you have a potential diagnosis and treatment!

@pui: Yay for answers!!! Not sure if she'll see this reply/post but I know @kjpugs got pregnant on the first cycle she tried Metformin (post on her wall or something!). She has PCOS too.

@pui: yay for proactive doctor!!! i'm so happy for you that the appointment went well. I do not have any personal experience with metformin but i think there are a lot of people who have had positive experiences with it...hope it helps!

@pui: what a relief that he took you seriously and really listened!! I know this isn't ideal but hopefully now that you have some options and some idea of what might be happening you can start ovulating more regularly!! hopefully some other bees will chime in with experience!

@MrsKoala: @LindsayInNYC: @Pirouette: @citymouse: Thanks for all the well wishes!
I'm going to my make my appointments for the bloodwork and ultrasound ASAP so hopefully I can get the gears turning and I'll be pregnant soon.

@pui: I'm glad your doctor took you seriously! You're right that Metformin is used for diabetes, but part of PCOS is being somewhat insulin resistant, in many cases. My endocrinologist (for my thyroid, not diabetes) said that people "get pregnant like crazy" on Metformin. Good luck with the testing!

@pui: I'm glad your doctor was understanding and supportive. That makes a world of difference! I have been on metformin before and had a ton of nausea/GI upset. If you have those troubles, ask your doctor about glumetza, which is very similar but some people tolerate it better. I did much better on glumetza. Hopefully you will not have any problems and will have a BFP in the near future!

@LindsayInNYC: Thanks for your encouragement.
I got another negative opk today, which is actually better because then O will probably be Sat and we will be together all weekend. We are actually going away this weekend for our anniversary so maybe we will have an anniversary baby!

@mrs. 64: See, it's working out okay after all!! An anniversary baby would be awesome
nectarine / 2063 posts
@pui: I've been on Metformin now for almost a year for possible PSOC (which my new dr. said I never had) & to help control my weight gain. Best advice I can give is make sure you eat a decent meal with it. My stomach took a week or two to adjust but I also have IBS so my digestive system is all messed up already lol. So glad your Dr. listened to what you had to say. This is good news dear.
