LO's daycare teachers told me that she took two steps yesterday without holding onto anything before she fell and cried. 
I'm so sad that I missed the steps! She only cruises at home!

At our daycare they won't tell you, so when it happens it seems like the first time. You can ask that they tell you but otherwise they won't because they want it to be special.

Oh no!!! I told daycare not to tell me when she does anything unless I mention it first.

Our baby has been rolling to his side and getting himself on his tummy. I told our daycare teacher about it. She said that he doesn't do it there. Our LO is shy about doing stuff there. Now that he's over a cold, he's smiling more. For a while there, he wouldn't even smile at them.

When DS does something for the first time at daycare, whether it is for the first time ever or just the first time there, they always do their best to capture it via photos or video for me.

Our daycare doesn't tell us either so that you won't be sad.
I am pretty sure DD took her first steps at daycare though. They are motivated around the other kids that are already walking.

I asked our daycare not to tell us anything for that reason! They might think I'm a weirdo but I don't care.

Yep, our old daycare would write a note on DD's daily sheet if she did something for the first time with them. I don't recall ever getting too upset about it because I knew it was going to happen. Our current nanny/sitter is afraid to tell us when DS does something for fear that she gets to experience the first before us. Doesn't really matter to me so I've told her to go ahead and tell us.
