I am starting to feel bad! OK Here is my situation -
I am gifting to our 3 teachers in his classroom, and the daycare director because she is awesome. I bought 4 boxes of skincare goodies from Bath & Body works, face value $16.5 - but it has buy 3 get 3 free promotion going on, and I used two coupons, so each of these boxes maybe $8+ each? On top of that, I am attaching a $10 Target gift card per gift.
So as I was putting everything together and attaching the gift receipt, I was like shoot, if they return the gift it is really only $17 total I am gifting per person.
I am contemplating if I should go back to Target and increase those gift cards to $20. LOL. I want to give it to them today just in case if I don't see them next Monday.
What do you guys think? Should I do it?? Or it doesn't matter?

I SAH but my LO goes to the gym daycare 3-4 times a week and the girls there are great. I gave each of them a $10 giftcard to Target...
@irene: I think that is a great gift and will be very much appreciated!

@irene: I think that's a great gift! It wasn't in the budget to spend like, any money, on daycare ladies, so I made some homemade cocoa and cinnamon ornaments, and they LOVED it. I think the daycare teachers are honestly thrilled that the parents think of them, and I think your presents sound great!

@dagret: @Bookish: @Mrs. Taco: OK I won't run back to the store then.... thanks for the confirmation!!!

LO has only been to her new daycare 1.5 months but we're going to give $50 cash for 3 teachers. We were going to do $20 but realized it's an investment and we love the new teachers.

@irene: I think that is a great gift. They don't know you got it on sale!!

We have 2 in daycare so we have 6 teachers and 2 directors to gift. We also like sending in something for the float teachers since they all care for both our kids. Right now we are doing $15 GC to dunk in for each of the 6 teachers, a nice gift for the directors, and a basket of baked goodies and little things from the museum gift shop for everyone to take from.

@sheskrafty: Next year maybe we'll do cash too. Less headache and they have really cute cash envelopes+greeting cards on sale at Target! It would have saved me so much headache running around trying to buy gift bags and cards and what not!
@Smurfette: They do, if they return the gift with the gift receipt I am attaching. Yikes! haha. OK I am definitely raising the budget for next year. Still feeling bad.

@irene: I don't think they will return it. If anything they will just exchange for a different scent.

There's a lot of staff at our daycare centre and my LO probably interacts with at least half of them.
For his 2 main teachers I gifted a $25 gift card and a couple of small B&BW products. For the directors (husband/wife pair), I gave them a $50 GC. For everyone else (I think it's 10 total?), they got a lotto scratch card and a B&BW antibacterial thingy which was delivered in a container full of chocolate.

$10 GC + homemade cold season care package for 3 teachers. Her lead teacher went to another room but the new lead teacher that came in was her teacher from the infant room. She has 2 lead teachers plus 1 floater. So I am also making muffins for all the teachers plus a class gift (Melissa & Doug puzzle set + magnetic drawing board)
@irene: we all have different budgets. I think just the fact that you are giving something is GREAT! I wish I could give more but honestly it starts to add up!

I made cookies for all of his teachers (past and present). For his current 2 teachers, we gave each a target gift card for $35.

LO has 2 teachers and were giving them each a bag with some nice chocolates and snacks and $10 Starbucks card. All the parents pool $$ and give gift cards to the teachers so each teacher also got a $50 gift card to their favorite store from the class as a whole.
There are a couple of floaters that we'll give little bag of nice chocolates to.

2 kids, each with 3 teachers and we did a $25 gift card and cookies for each. I didn't bother with the director because she is pretty terrible! Even though that is $150, my friends with nannies do a weeks salary so it doesn't seem like much in comparison!

We use an in home caregiver (through and agency) and she is wondeful. There is a designer she loves and we bought her a purse- it was about $100. I hope she likes!

We have a nanny 2 days/week and we will be giving her money. LO goes to a preschool two mornings each week and I gave his teacher a gift card and a plant. I wanted to do something creative but ran out of time!

@irene: I don't know if this will make you feel better or worse, but my mom was a kindy teacher for close to 20 years. She says the best you can do for gifts are cash, consumable food but not homemade or personal care items. The teachers know you don't pay full price so they won't return, they will either use, exchange or regift.
I think you have to do what is in your budget.
