We are buying a house! Yay! It's a bit of a drive from my mom though, who has been watching S while I WAH part time.. So I am looking for part-time affordable childcare 2 or 3 days a week & my mom will help out from there as needed. Some local churches have "Mommy's Day Out" - basically part-time daycare/preschool & it is typically pretty affordable compared to daycare, so that's what I'd like to go with.
The one that is closest to our new house & that I like the best based on recommendations from folks & my conversation with them on the phone only has one day a week available right now. I can go on the wait list for additional days but there's no telling when they would open up.
I am going to visit Thursday & if I like it, I might sign LO up for that one day & hope another opens. I am a little concerned that at 10 months (how old she'll be when they start this fall) she will not do awesome only going once a week - that she will not acclimate to her teachers & classmates as well as if she was going 2 or 3 days. She is pretty adaptable, social & so far has little separation anxiety, but she also has been home with me or my mom almost exclusively, and she is also not afraid to express when she's unhappy!
Thoughts on giving this a shot? My mom says if I love it we should go for it rather than settling for another program just because it has 2/3 day availability now. I should mention that I have been underwhelmed with my phone conversations with most of the other options, and they are not as geographically convenient.
