Yayyyyyyy! I'm so excited for you! Do the teachers for the MDO program work in the church nursery? Are you interested in attending the church? If so, leaving her in the nursery for church before she starts could acclimate her to her surroundings, and hopefully it wouldn't be so hard when she started the program.

My dd is 10 months right now and goes once a week while I work. She has separation anxiety - but has done well with MDO.

It might be worth asking the teachers if they babysit, perhaps they could come over once or twice a week for a few weeks so they could develop a rapport. Either way I vote you go for it, you don't have much to lose so it's worth a shot. Good luck!

@daniellemybelle: they follow their own schedule for the most part but I know some parents have LOs who nap earlier. They usually just let them nap in a room that is quieter or has an earlier nap schedule! That's what I really love - the flexibility. I think they can be more flexible since it isn't 5x a week. They know the child has a routine outside of the two days they are at MDO and are fine with working around schedules !

LO is in the 12-18 mo room. They play in their room for about an hour in the morning then go to a big open room with large toys and combine with other classes for free play, puppet shows, crafts, etc. then back to their smaller room for lunch and nap.

My dd is in the 6-12mth class right now. She's been going since she turned 6mths on and off - they had to close for bad weather. I love how flexible they are with her schedule. They will feed her and have her nap during her regular times. She is in mdo from 9:30-2:30pm and has been able to nap consistently between 10-1 each time. They give me a detailed list of how her stay went and will often tell me if she was still hungry after she had her lunch..etc. I think it has helped a lot with her developmental skills, she loves being dropped off and it's always fun picking her up at the end of the day and seeing her play with her friends. She does better at mdo than our church nursery - she ALWAYS ends up riding on a huge red stroller with other crying babies.

These decision are so hard! I am recently in the same boat with my 2 yo and 5 month old. However, that one day without them and them being able to interact with other kids will be REALLY important (for me anyways!). Good luck!

I would totally go for it! I put DD in MDO one day a week starting at 6 months old, and she has loved it. She's 15 months now. During DH's busy season at work (i.e. right now) she goes 2 days a week, but she was doing just fine with only 1 and I'll switch back to that in a few weeks. She hates going to the nursery at our church (not the same one as the MDO program) on Sundays..I think b/c it's chaotic with kids coming and going, and a different teacher every week. MDO is much more calm, same group of kids and usually the same teacher. She has never napped well there but that makes for better home naps so I'm okay with it. I would give it a shot! It'll be great for your LO to get to play with other kids and fun toys that you don't have to listen to and I bet she'll have a great time!
