So the baby is coming up on 12 weeks. He only naps in the car or the swing. He used to do four hours if we'd let him but now it's pretty much only 30 minutes, on the dot, every time. The times I've tried to get him to nap in the crib or RNP he just flails and cries and then maybe skips that nap and gets OT. I feel like I don't have time for some elaborate nap routine in his nursery with a 2-year-old in the house, especially when chances are good he will refuse the nap anyway.
As for night sleep, he's fallen into a pattern of a good solid six-ish hours, a 3ish wakeup, and then another few hours. Those last few hours are punctuated by a lot of gas and fussing. He is still in the RNP by my bed, but he's huge and outgrowing it and I am ready to get him in his own space. I tried putting him in the crib last night for the first time. He lasted one 30-minute sleep cycle and then he lost it. I eased the transition with his big bro with swaddling, but this one hates to be swaddled.
TL;DR How on earth did you create good sleep habits for No. 2 when you couldn't really put in the time necessary to do so?
