LO is nine weeks old (10 on saturday) and has been taking 3 or 4 oz of breastmilk in a bottle every 3 hours while at daycare. Today, I came home and gave him 4 oz for his 6p feeding, and he was acting soooo hungry, so I breastfed him until he unlatched and seemed full, which was another 15 minutes or so. I'm wondering if I should move up from 4 oz bottles to the big bottles and give him more for daycare. I'm afraid of overfeeding him. Is that possible?

i think at that age olive was taking up to 5-6 oz for her bedtime bottle. i wouldn't worry about overfeeding a breastfed baby! the 4 oz bottles are small, so you'll have to move up soon anyway, but one thing to note is that some daycares tend to overfeed because formula fed babies consume more milk than breastfed babies as they get older. breastfed babies' milk consumption does not increase after the first couple of months because the mother's milk changes to meet the nutritional needs of her baby.

Every baby is different and only you will know. For instance, my LO is 5 months old, and has never drank more than a 3oz bottle, even if you try to force him. Trust your instincts!

It is possible to overfeed, especially if the baby eats fast from the bottle. This is why our pedi thinks my baby spits up a lot... She thinks she eats too fast and has told us to take breaks so her brain has time to realize she's full.
