For those that are on a MSPI diet...what do you do about dessert??
I loove dessert. 
I'm going home this weekend and it makes me so sad to not have a Napoleon from Venieros.
I still allow myself occasional desserts (she's fine) such as cookies that don't have a ton of milk in it.

@regberadaisy: Ooh, I used to go all out and buy really fancy dairy free chocolate (it's super dark). I also had popcicles and used to make dairy free oatmeal cookies, fruit tarts, and crazy cake. I have a killer soy/dairy free banana bread recipe too! I made dessert a non-negotiable and I felt that because I was already losing weight like crazy, that I deserved whatever I wanted that I could have!
Ooh, and there is a vegan bakery in SLC that made the most amazing sugar cookies that were soy and dairy free. They also had a soy/dairy free apple pie that I would get as a treat.
Yeah, I thought alot about dessert when I was eliminating.

Sorbet. There is this Tiki Fruit Mango Ice that is delicious.
I made cookies with shortning and safe margarine.
There are a few premixed cake mixes that are safe. Though I really like the Wacky Cake recipe. Cake for me is my non negotiable. We used shortning to make frosting.
Whole Foods has a number of safe things. We can also find the occasional pie at our local store that has no dairy in it.

@Mrs. Jacks: hahhaha your post cracked me up! there's a vegan bakery that opened near my house that I'll have to check out! Does vegan mean soy free though?

@regberadaisy: You have to ask for soy free, but many vegan bakeries do that too. I know there are some really good vegan bakeries near your home... and just don't think about Venerio's (but if you want to send me a canoli, we're all good!)
I think the Tiki mango fruit ice is available at whole foods.

Go to Whole Foods for dairy free desserts. They have a great selection and they taste great, too!
Some Duncan Hines products are dairy free - their brownie and blueberry muffin mixes for sure. Also, Oreos. And Trader Joe's O's. I'm a sweetaholic so, I needed to know what I could have when I was off dairy!!

Because I didn't see it listed...
So Delicious makes coconut and almond milk ICE CREAMS!!!! Some of them DO have soy in them, but their Chocolate & Mint Chip are m/s free!
@regberadaisy: The closest WF is 2 hours away from me, and we don't have any kind of health food store =( Thankfully my local grocer (HEB) does carry some non-dairy/soy brands.... SOME. lol

I just found coconut milk ice cream and let me tell you it's uh-may-zing!!! My naturopath also suggested I google coconut milk whipped cream, it's an awesome topping.

@regberadaisy: I am going to second the coconut milk ice cream - sooo good. So Delicious makes some without sugar in addition to no soy or milk. So awesome!!

@prettylizy: He isn't, but I just try to eat really healthy besides. I do eat dairy, but I don't eat soy for health reasons and I've also eliminated gluten and some other grains. I LOVE coconut milk and eating coconut milk ice cream makes me feel less guilty since I know it has tons of nutritional properties!

When in NYC, in lieu of Veniero's, check out Babycakes... I'm not on a special diet, but I still love their cupcakes and have heard their doughnuts are really good too. They ship almost anywhere too, I think.
