Baby T was super fussy all morning and nothing I could do would make him stop. He wasn't full on crying, just being fussy. Even when I was holding him he would fuss and whine a little. This for two hours when I was getting ready to get out the door. Then, as soon as we walk into daycare he's smiling brightly and super happy. I know it's completely irrational, but my feelings were hurt. Does he like daycare more than spending time with me? Even as I write that I know I'm being a super-sensitive mama. . .

There's no WAY he likes day care more than spending time with you..... Maybe there are some toys he was hankering to play with, or baby friends he wanted to see. Just think of that HUGE smile he'll give you when you pick him up.

Awwhh, my LO is the same way! She seems a little bored at home during the weekends...I think she misses the other kids and all the different toys!

My baby gets all excited at daycare too. She's really social, and babies can get bored. Im sure your LO was just excited to see their baby friends and daycare ladies and new toys. You're always going to be mom though, and always #1 to your LO.

Aww I'm sure he was just distracted by all the friends and toys at daycare that he forgot he was feeling fussy. I'm sure there will be big hugs and kisses when you pick him up!

I worked at a daycare. Babies always prefer their mamas. It could be something completely random - the light was brighter there and he liked that, it was a better temperature, he's social. Maybe he just really had to fart and passed it when you walked in!

My DD also loves daycare. There was a break for Labor Day and she was home for 5 days. I swear, she was so happy to get back to her friends. I think some kids just love to be social and they can miss their friends, too, but I don't worry because she loves me the best at the end of the day!

DS gets super irritated sometimes when I'm getting ready and not giving him my full attention. He also LOVES other kids and will yell out to them when we're in the supermarket, etc. He's not in daycare but I'm sure he'd be the same way in the morning. When I come home from work he freaks out if I do anything, cook, clean, you name it, before sitting on the ground with him and playing for a while first.

@rachiecakes: I think this is it completely! I feel guilty for having to rush around in the mornings and not to be able to focus more attention on him. Maybe I am just needing to carve out some special one-on-one time with him this evening where he gets all my attention!

I feel like this sometimes. DD and DS go to daycare two days a week, but sometimes on our off days, DD will ask about her daycare provider or one of the helpers. Or sometimes she cries when I pick her up because she doesn't want to go home. I just try to remember that it's good she feels comfortable/happy there, and that I WANT her to make these strong connections with other people. As much as I want to be the only person in the kids' lives, it's healthy and good for them to build relationships with other people they can trust.

DS LOVES his daycare. He usually hits the ground running when we get there without a backward glance. Then at pick up, he usually will fuss or cry when I get him. If he is outside playing, it's much worse. He gets so mad that he has to leave the toys and get in his carseat that he throws huge tantrums. I'm used to it now, but it does hurt my feelings that he doesn't like to see me when I get to daycare to pick him up. I'm a little embarrassed by the tantrums he throws when we are leaving too. I understand it, but I still want for him to be happy to see me.
