I just plugged my pump in and smelled burning. The power cord smells and the pumps not working! It's 11pm! I have to go pump in the car??

Oh no! That's awful. Hopefully the have new cords at a store near you for tomorrow.

I'm seriously pissed! Now I'm reading that it might be the pump itself. Medela will overnight me a new one but if I get in touch with them tomorrow, I won't get it til Saturday... If they even do Saturday delivery... So what do I do til then?? Do I have to take tomorrow morning off to go rent a pump?? Can I even bring that pump in to work??
I'm freaking out!

@wheres_c: I wish we had a 24 hour walmart nearby!!! Wagon Sr. was like "maybe a 24 hour cvs will have a manual breast pump..." haha, yeah right!!
I had a backup single electric I got for free when Wagon Jr. was born but I hooked it all up and it didn't seem to work at all
I'm going to call medela as soon as they open and see what they say... but until then, THANK GOD it's just the cord and not the pump that's broken. I was able to pump in the car using the car adaptor. Which SUCKS. I hate pumping in the car. Especially after I've gotten ready for bed and snuggled down into the sheets and ready to pump with my TV show and everything. We don't have a garage so I had to pump in the driveway... eeeeek. But I guess what has to be done has to be done. It's not the first time I've pumped in the car in our driveway... I had to do it when the power went out during the blizzard!
I guess I'm glad this didn't happen til now... I've already cut down to 3 short pumping sessions a day because I wanted to wean from the pump soon, so I don't get engorged anymore. Here's hoping and praying I don't get any plugged ducts and medela can get me another cord quickly! (if not the cords are available at babies r us and buy buy baby... for $25 each... ugh.)

Good luck!! My battery pack got close to shorting out at just the second month I was using it. They were able to send me something overnight. Do you have the battery pack? Can you use that for now until you get the power supply replacement??

Sorry you are going through this, I went through this a few months ago. I basically went out and bought a second one and then eventually got reimbursed for both by the company with the help of Mr Bee and hellobee members

I got this pump from a friend who wasn't able to produce milk and I think she forgot to give it to me, because I found the instruction manual for the battery pack last night but no battery pack. I'm gonna stop by BRU on the way home and get a replacement cord. Another store sells the battery pack too, but it's far and I'm almost done with the pump anyway... ugh. Part of me wanted to just quit cold turkey because of this, but I'm so angry that I can't.@Mrsbells: that's awesome! was your pump still under warranty? Mine is not unfortunately

@mediagirl: thank you.. all this is making me really face weaning from the pump, which makes me kinda wanna cry. I do want to quit pumping soon but the idea of not producing milk for LMW makes me a little sad.
@bunnylove08: I'm picking up a cord from BRU today. The problem was my 11pm pump last night and my 6am pump this morning! They need to keep BRU open 24 hours! Plus most radio shack cords have an l-shape which won't fit into the pump.. it has to be straight.

So Medela has sent a new power cord but it won't be here til monday. But my OBGYN gave me a prescription for a breastpump, no questions asked, and I picked up my brand new Medela PIS for zero dollars!!!
I now have two pumps... hurrah! Only one power cord right now but the other will arrive on Monday, so I can keep one pump at work and one at home.
This seriously makes me consider continuing to pump! Why not?? I have two pumps now!! haha.

@mrs. wagon: wow that's awesome!!! And I know what you mean about feeling sad about not giving LO BM. I had always hated EPing but vowed that I would at least make it to 6 months. At 6 months, even though I still didnt like it much I felt so sad about stopping that I kept at it for an extra month. I've stopped for 2 months now but I still get sad from time to time though I love the freedom!
