we did two nanny trials, one day each. but honestly you can't tell that much from one day. i would say it took our nanny a good month to get into a good groove!
i would rely on lots of references, your gut instinct, and how she interacts with your lo.

@Mrs.Bee: What did you have the nannies do during the trial? Did you start giving them a run down of what you expected them to do already? Or did you just let them kind of do their thing and watch the interaction with your LO?
Our original nanny cancelled on us a week ago, and I go back to work in 2 weeks, so time is ticking and I'm starting to stress a little =(

@mamajaja: they both watched charlie the entire day. that included feeding him, putting him down for a nap, and playing with him.
they both did fine -- you really can't tell how they will be long term. we went with the one that was less chatty, and she's still with us!
