We used the nanny contract that the Bees posted and in it we specified which holidays are paid and unpaid. We listed 4th of July as paid. Our nanny works part time to mimic my work schedule and comes on Mon, Tues and Thursdays. 4th of July falls on a Friday this year. I do have patients scheduled on 7/3.
What do you think should be done about the 7/4 holiday?
(Our nanny just counted on the holiday being pushed forward to 7/3 and booked out of town travel. She said that when federal holidays fall on the weekend, you get either the Friday/Monday off instead. So she applied that rule to this situation. That is true if you are a FT worker... Not sure about in this setting though. Since she has traveled booked, obviously, she should go on her trip. But, should we pay her for 7/3 as if she were working and count it as the holiday? We had just thought luck of the draw with holidays and when they fall on Mon/tues/thurs. That is how it is working for me at my job at least...We will have to pay another babysitter for 7/3)
Lesson learned to specify this holidays-on-weekend situation in any future nanny contracts.
