If you didn't pump that often with your first baby, did you still get new pump parts for your second?
I pumped occasionally with C, probably on average a few times a month for about a year. Have a medela pump in style (the generic insurance style). I imagine I will need new membranes but I'm thinking I can just use the same tubing and sterilize the flanges and other pump parts? I put the pump away about a year and a half ago. Don't plan to pump that often for this one either.

I didn't pump a ton with #1, but I plan on getting a totally new pump for #2 since it's free through insurance. Then, assuming nursing goes better this time, I can leave a pump at work.

I had the same question! I am re-using everything but got new tubing and membranes. I gave all the parts a good wash and sterilized as well.

I didn't pump much with DD so I just sterilized the parts and used the same ones for DS. Pumped at work for him for a year with no problems.

I EPed both girls and still just sterilized everything and reused it. I did throw out one tubing because it was questionable but everything else was 100% fine

@Charm54: questionable how? It just looked funny?
@futuremama: I don't anticipate pumping much this time either so I think I'd rather just use my benefit for a hand pump for times when I don't want a full pump but need to release a little (like at a wedding without LO). But the manual is so much cheaper of course.

@Foodnerd81: Yeah one set was crystal clear, the other was cloudy. I'm sure it was fine but i chucked it and bought another spare set for around $10.

I just used my old pump parts but did get a manual pump that I never had with LO1 and loved using it for the occasional bottle that I pumped at home. Especially since I only feed one side per feed (alternating sides).

I pumped a bunch with #1, but I just replaced the membranes on my pump for #2 and sterilized everything else.

@Pumuckl: which one did you like? I was thinking of the medela one (harmony?) since I have medela bottles and everything already.

I got a new pump through insurance since I WOH but I still use my old pump parts. It is so nice having multiple sets of things!

@Foodnerd81: That's the one I got for the same exact reason! I liked it since I had the right sized shields etc anyway.

I have only used closed system pumps (Ameda last time and Spectra this time) so I just resterilized the Ameda parts and I am reusing them. I'd be more cautious with reuse of a Medela pump since you can't sterilize the inside of the pump.

If I can get another free pump next time, I'll get that, and then just keep all the same parts for my current one to be the spare at home.
