Try turning it inside out and then placing it on your breast, and then flipping it over. Some people use breastmilk to create a seal between the shield and your skin.

We tried to turn it inide out but failed pretty miserably. Guess we just have to keep practicing.

Pinch the nipple part and then placing it over my own nipple and then releasing usually worked pretty well for me.
