Today our breastmilk journey has officially ended...DS is currently sucking down his last tall glass of breastmilk!! 
Breastfeeding itself actually ended when DS self-weaned at 21 months, but for the last 3+ months he has been getting ~12 oz a day from our (rebuilt) freezer stash. At 24m12d we are officially out of liquid gold...in a way it is bittersweet.
Were you sad when your LO had their last taste of breastmilk?

I will be when I stop nursing him in the morning and night. I love the faces he makes when he nurses. At times, it's tough to see him excited for the bottle, but we're both happy, so no complaints here.

I will be SO sad when P weans! Right now I can't really even imagine what it'll be like to give her milk other than momma's milk! You did an awesome job going this long! Congrats!

I cried! Haha. And took a pic. DS1 weaned at 2 years 4 months. I don't even think about DS2 weaning yet because he's only 15 months but I know I'll be sad. Great job though!!!

@runsyellowlites: Ugh I know the feeling...for us the other milk has to be an elemental formula, so it REALLY pulls at my mommy heartstrings being so synthetic I can't wait for the day that he can have an actual alternative milk...I've tried to get him to drink quinoa or sunflower milk in the past but he refuses (we can't do the other, more common alternative milks either like rice, oat, hemp, nuts etc).

@anbanan15: Awww! That does stink! You think you could wean him to the quinoa or sunflower by mixing it with the formula progressively? Of course thus isn't my area of expertise but maybe over the next few months you could get him digging it?

Aww I know I will be. Dd is down to 1 nursing session a day at 25 months 9 days! I'll keep her at one session until she stops wanting it.

I've even tried to flavor it with cinnamon or natural vanilla. To be honest he won't even take water so we have to dilute his splash (the formula...it's a RTF elemental) in order for him to get enough fluids). In fact he used to be so sensitive that if there was even residue from either breastmilk or splash in his cup once you added the opposite in he would refuse the entire thing! He has gotten better about that though thankfully.

@anbanan15: Wow! Sounds like that could be so stressful for you! I seriously think it's awesome you built your stash BACK up so you could keep up as long as you have! Hope he gets less sensitive/picky soon so you can have less stress surrounding his intake! I applaud you!

Yay! You did a great job! I felt a little sad when my LO had his last bottle at 14 months. I was also glad to have a little more freedom since I had been exclusively pumping for a year. I can't imagine pumping past a year.
