Anyone ever have any issues with early teething and latching on? Bottle nipple vs Mommy nipple.
My lo is 4 months and started teething already!
The last few days she's been very fussy and seems to occasionally prefer bottle over boob. Think latching on hurts her upper gum if it's already sore? Seems like a ditzy question...but she's confusing me!

Side note: before this week, she hated bottles. I was lucky if she took one every couple days. So really she's exclusively bfeeding.

I didn't have the exact same situation, but when my first LO was teething (top teeth, especially), he did refuse both breast and bottle. I think it's one of those 'just get through it somehow' kind of things! keep offering both, and hopefully after the tooth has popped out she'll go back to her normal self!

We've been through this before. I found that a little teething gel helped her. I don't have advice, as I don't know all of the details of your exact situation, but a lactation consultant would be a wonderful resource for you. Ours helped guide us through teething and all the discomfort that comes along with it. Good luck mama!

BFing was goofy when she teethed the first time. Latch got weird, she would refuse or pull off. Just keep offering, it should get better.

Yes! LO would refuse to latch occasionally when teething but would happily accept a cold bottle of milk, I think the chilled milk soothed his gums.

Yeah, feeding was a little wonky for a few days during the worst of the teething. My ped reassured me that babies will not let themselves starve and suggested trying BM "popsicles" in the mesh feeder.

my DD's latch changed when she was teething for sure. wasn't painful as much as different and sometimes it hurt because it felt like she being a lazy latcher or something to avoid where it was swollen.

We had the exact same thing. We tried with a nipple shield and it worked a little better... after a few days everything was back to normal. He has 5 teeth now and loves to breastfeed and hates the bottle (again)
