Well, after a sleepless night and some scattered contractions, my cervix is more anterior, soft and still fingertip dilated. It is sort of moving in the right direction, so I'm a little confident that the pitocin will help things progress.
They let me hop in the shower first and get refreshed before starting the drip, which was nice.
Also, I got nearly zero sleep last night. Another "prepare for labor tip" might as well be sleep on the floor for the last two weeks of gestation. It will prepare you for the rock hard beds in the hospital. I swear, I flipped from side to side so often that I felt like a rotisserie chicken.
@swedishfish: Ha! Not weird at all.

Thank you so much, ladies! I totally feel the vibes. Things will hopefully get a lot tougher soon.

@Espion: you're getting there! and YES on those beds, I kept flipping over and over until one last turn my water broke.
Hope you have a good day today! You're almost there

@Espion: yes, exactly, rotisserie chicken. Hooray for progress. Hang in there!

Okay, beginning of sh*t got real. I had to have a Cook catheter placed (google image has a good pic of what this is) which actually wasn't too bad. Basically felt like a tougher contraction. But it has made all my subsequent contractions more serious. Not unmanageable, but, Flipper has officially gone from, "Hey, hey guys? What's going on out there?" to hitting the roof of my uterus with a broomstick and yelling at us to "Keep it down!"

Also, my contraction monitor slipped, so it wasn't recording my contractions. I'm totally feeling them, and i looked at the monitor and its completely flatlined. Is it weird that I got pissed for making it through a contraction and then getting zero credit for it?

Just checking in! It sounds like you are making amazing progress - go mama go!!!

Only 2-3cm after 2 hours w/ the Cook. Actually good progress. Pitocin contractions officially suck. I'm going to try and hang until the next check before the epi. But they had to turn down the pit. Too fast and too much .

@Espion: Yay for progress! It took me a lonnng time to get to 3cm, but once I did it moved really fast (admittedly mine was without pit or the Cook).
Good luck Mama!

You are doing great. The discomfort will end and you will be holding your baby soon!

@Espion: You're doing great! Definitely try moving around if you can, even if just on the bedside (squat, hands & knees, leaning over the bed while swaying hips, etc). Staying in bed sucks majorly pit or not... I can imagine it's worse with it!

@Espion: that is great progress though! Stay positive! Come on, Flipper, you can do this!!!
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@runsyellowlites: OMG, yes, I cannot imagine how laboring women managed lying down. It was straight up horrible to lay back for the checks.
A crackerjack anesthesiologist put in the epi and now we're cruising. The leg weakness feels like being on roller skates too long and the pins and needles are absolutely crazy.
Super plus, as soon as I shifted, my water broke on its own!
Ladies who do this without pain meds, I humbly lay myself at your feet. We've got a ways to go, but we're getting there!

@Espion: woohooo! now is really go time - you'll have that baby in your arms in no time thinking of ya!
