@PrincessBaby: sorry, went out for a bit and am just now.catching up. Good job, H, and great job, Mama!
@rrachael: you can SO do this! Let us know how it goes, and if you need distracted!

Ummmm, H did not wake up until 430am! I nursed her then she fell asleep, and woke up a little when I moved her back in her crib, but went to sleep again until 8am when she got up for the day. She rolled over a couple of times in the night and fussed for like 10 seconds then was asleep again.
We'll see how tonight goes!!! My husband comes home Friday and I really hope she's officially sleep-trained by then- He'll be so proud of me!!!

@PrincessBaby: success!!! You are a ROCK STAR! If he's not proud, we all are!!

Thanks, ya'll!
I am not used to getting so many consecutive hours of uninterrupted sleep! When she woke me up at 430, I had been sleeping so hard I was like "Where am I? What day is it? Who am I?" Lol...Totally out of it

@PrincessBaby:
Thats awesome!! Ive been following your thread. I feel like we may have to do this soon. Ugh! My LO does the "jaguar" yells too. I swear it sounds like shes dying, but im so over spending hours on end trying to get her to sleep.

Round 3- she's wailing!
The only thing I dont feel good about is that she only nursed for like 5 mins and was basically falling asleep. I had to nudge her a few times in hopes that she would keep eating. It worked a couple of times but she was baely nursing. So I dropped her in the crib and she's freaking out.
She ate solids about half an hour ago, a decent amount. And I think it was around 530 that she last nursed. What cutoff time should I use for nursing her when she wakes up? How many hours so I let her go?
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
I was REALLY hoping she would go right down!!! It's been 7 minutes:(
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
@PrincessBaby: I try not to nurse A until midnight. If she wakes up before then, I'll soothe her in her crib (hopefully without picking her up). After midnight the boobs are all hers. She knows that, I think, because she will at least eventually go back to sleep before midnight but after midnight she kicks off until I put her in with me. These babies are smart!!!!!

@travelgirl1: That's what I'll plan on!!!
She took 20 mins tonight but she's out:(

@PrincessBaby: you made it through night three! Awesome job! I hope you're around in the future if I have to do this with my LO!
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
I was disappointed that it took longer on might 3 than it did on night 2. This is painful, dont think it's not. On the first night I was so fed up that it was easy. But last night and tonight, bc I didnt nurse for 1000 hours, I felt terrible:(. She is my boo boo. My buddy. My monkey. And it really does KILL me that she went to sleep just wanting me to come and get her:(

@PrincessBaby: you should be proud, Mama! What you're doing is tough stuff. Hang in there, this will make you both happier in the ling run. Hoping for many snuggles for.you and H in the morning!

YOU GUYS! I have to brag on my Big Girl!!!
We have a ridiculous temporary living situation until we close on our house end of Aug. We are subletting an apt right on the main st of downtown Charleston. Words cannot describe how f'ing loud it is, not with people but with big trucks delivering food/booze usually at 4am to restaurants/bars across the street (and their stupid reverse beeping), and I swear Charleston has the most dedicated street sweepers on the planet bc they come EVERY DAY at around 430. And trash pickup is basically every other day at the same time too. It is RIDICULOUS.
The bedrooms face the street (of course!!!). H has a marpac dohm, so some sound is blocked, but when all of that is happening at once, it totally wakes her up. DH and I had to move our bed into the living room and move the sofa into the bedroom. It sucks beyond belief, but I repeat to myself 1000x a night that it's just temporary.
Well on Mondays, it's the worst. The anal retentive street sweepers show up and sweep the streets within an inch of their life, dont know why it's longer on Monday but it is. And then like every food/booze distributor truck shows up to replenish the businesses for the week. It starts at 4am. This chaos.
Well needless to say we both got woken up by all of these shenanigans at 415...She cried and was hungry (she hadnt eaten since 7p). I pulled her in bed with me bc of the noise, did no good to stay in her bedroom with the noise level. I wasnt really sure how I was going to handle getting her back to sleep w/o letting her fall asleep on the boob once she was in bed with me. Obviously I want her to be drowsy, but fall asleep on her own, but I have always side-nursed her to sleep when I pull her in with me..Long story short (okay, still long, lol) after she ate, we layed in the bed and cuddled and I saw her yawn but she was still fairly awake. I let her nurse a couple of more minutes and then took it away. She layed next to me and wiggled and tossed and turned for a few minutes (eyes open) and then....She just rolled onto her side next to me and fell asleep all by herself!!! I am so SO proud of my Big Girl!!!! I was in shock!!
Oh and btw that was her first/only wakeup of the night!
Love my girl so much!!!

omg go Harper!!! she is doing AMAZING at it, sounds like she was def ready!!!! i hope tonight goes just as good! i know how hard it is hearing our little babies cry; i felt like total crap the first night after she fell asleep.
@travelgirl1: omg my LO is doing the whole "mamaaa mammaaaa" thing too and i am such a sucker! i go running in as soon as she says that...its like a dagger through the heart! i could deal with fussing/crying for short periods, but calling out for me? im too soft for that!

@PrincessBaby: Yay! Way to go H! This thread has totally reaffirmed my desire to do CIO with our little girl once she's old enough. I know it's going to break my heart to hear her cry, but the end result (for mama and baby!) seems totally worth it!

Yay, way to go H!
@NovBaby1112: I know, right? When they're actually crying your name it's horrendous. I think that if we're lucky enough to have a second baby I will tackle their sleep issues before they can sit up, crawl around the crib, get to the corner nearest the door and stare at it while crying mama. Too.much.guilt. lol. I wonder if it would have been easier if she'd said dada first?!?

@LovelyPlum: @NovBaby1112: @lawbee11: @travelgirl1: @T.H.O.U.: Thanks for the support, you guys!!!
Guess what? 7 minutes from hitting the mattress to knocked out! I really hope we get to zero minutes soon.
So dang proud of my sweetheart though. She is trying and she's doing wonderful, my pretty little sweetpea.

@PrincessBaby: H, you are aROCK STAR! And your mama is a brave lady who loves you very much. Give her lots of snuggles in the morning, ok??

@PrincessBaby: omg she's sooooooo big! Yay H!!
j is currently SCREAMING HIS HEAD OFF so I'm rereading all of the supportive words in this thread lol

@babyjmama: How did he end up doing? I'm sorry I just saw this! I passed out!!!
The 4am circus of reverse beeping, air brakes loudly blowing, and commercial truck horn honking (sounds like an 18 wheeler) has already started for the day. I *seriously* want to walk across the street and be like "Do you see that window right there? There is a family in there, and you are destroying our sleep. There is a 7 month old baby that you scare half to death and wake up EVERY day. If there is any good in your heart, can you just NOT be SOOO loud??? WHY must you honk your horn!?!?"
But there's nothing they could do, I'm sure. With the exception of not honking the horn, the air brakes and the reveree beeper are not going anywhere:(
August 19th we'll be in our new house and out of this hellhole. I just repeated that in my head 1 million times.
The good news is that H has not woken up. I have no idea how she could have just slept through all of that nonsense!

@PrincessBaby: I am following this thread religiously even though my lo is not here yet. It is so encouraging to see what you are doing, your honest feedback and the support this online community is giving. You are amazing!
honeydew / 7303 posts
@PrincessBaby: do you use white noise? Maybe that could block some of the loudness.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@scotchbonnet: Everyone here is amazing! I couldn't do this w/o HB, for sure! Especially with my DH being away (he works offshore). Congrats on your LO!!!
Update:
So Harper fell asleep in 7 minutes.
She slept until 4:45, even sleeping through the 4am circus that woke me up (I may need to sleep train myself!)
Then I did the same thing as yesterday, pulling her in the bed w/me amidst a second wave of trucks/beeps/noise, nursing her, removing the boob, cuddling, and she fell asleep on her own! The only thing I did differently was she did start to fuss a little and I softly sung Twinkle Little Star to her for a couple of minutes, bc she is always riveted by my performance:). Then I stopped and we just cuddled and she fell asleep.
I wouldnt mind always going to sleep like that, but I know logistically it would be terrible. But I have loved her face right next to mine (instead of on the boob) these past two mornings, and getting to cuddle and kiss her sweet little chubbers face and smell her baby smell, her baby shampoo smell hair:). She makes me swoon:)
I dont know what else to do for these early morning wakeups where it's too early to get up for the day but we're in the midst of a delivery truck tornado. It seems too noisy to put her down in the crib and expect her to go to sleep. I mean I couldnt even go back to sleep bc of the noise! I dont want to create another crutch, of me being right there, but I dont know what else to do given the circumstances.
And it is sooooo sweet getting all those early morning cuddles, hugs, and kisses!

@PrincessBaby: he did okay, took him about 45 min. We are in an in-between place until we find a house too, I've had major guilt fir being a WOHM and moving him from place to place so I've been spoiling him
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@babyjmama: Any wakeups? Was that Night 1 of sleep training? 45 mins is not too bad! Go J!!!! And hugs to you, lady! I feel so much guilt about this housing mess we have thrown H into, and I know if I was working it would be even more miserable. My heart goes out to you!!!
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@babyjmama: Oh and does he still have his crib, just out of curiosity? That's my other guilt item- H's crib went with the movers into storage. I bought her a Baby Bjorn travel crib for the apt but it's smaller, and she doesnt have the room she was accustomed to.
grapefruit / 4136 posts
@PrincessBaby: it was our first go at it since we flipped his world upside down in march. He'd been in his pack&play until last weekend when we finally moved his crib, it doesn't seem to have made much difference though, if that helps your guilt
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@PrincessBaby: Well it took two weeks to get to that point. And we will see how she does tonight. Sounds like H is doing great!

11 minutes tonight:(. Tonight is night 5. I was really hoping each night would get shorter!
