Now that she has two sharp little lower teeth, I guess she wanted to test them out. She bit me while nursing for the first time this weekend, but hasn't done it since. (She's 7 1/2 months old.)
When did your LO first bite you?

Right at 6 months. And bad enough that I had to pump for a few days on that side. It hurt too much for him to latch!

At 6 months with two teeth. It's awful. It hurt so bad I jumped and kind of smacked her face (not on purpose just as a reflex) now when she bites I take her off and tell her no biting. I don't let her latch back on right away I make her wait a few minutes. Mostly it's to let the stinging in my nipple to stop.

mine nibbled while teething, it was not a fun time. I just stopped nursing and tried again later. But when she wasn't teething she didn't bite.
@Oceanis723: I totally did that once too. It was a reflex, I smacked her on the nose like a bad puppy.

Ok, I'm glad to know that some women (lightly) smack their baby after they get bit (as a reflex). I've been so scared I'll do the same thing and feel like a bad mom for it.

LO has two little barracuda teeth sprouting in on the bottom row. Latching is very painful and I expect it to get even worse!!

I think this is my biggest fear with BF. I don't know how I will react! And the idea of teeth chomping down makes me cringe. I hope it's easy to teach LO not to bite.

LO bit me for the first time 3 weeks ago (9 months). I screamed and scared her! It really hurts! She's bit me twice more since then.

@BabyBoecksMom: I hear ya! My mom told me the story about the first time I bit her while nursing, she did the same thing.
I have been chomped while nursing with gums, and it was enough for me to take him off immediately, more shock than pain though. I don't look forward to teeth coming in!
My favorite was at work, I was teaching some students how to restrain a hamster, and the little monster bit my hand, and I reacted by jerking my hand, and the poor little guy flung onto the table belly up, but was fortunately ok. One of my early lessons to the students to do as I say, not as I do.

I can't remember how old he was, but he bit down after teeth a few times. Oh my, I think I saw stars every time. After the first few times he didn't do it anymore. Ack, it hurt, but it didn't break the skin and I was fine by the next nursing or pumping session.

I yelled a few times when DS bit while I was nursing him. Once scared him and he went on a short nursing strike. But it really hurt!!
Lately he has been hitting, and there have been a few times when he's purposefully hit me and caught me off guard and I lightly smacked his cheek! I felt bad, especially because I know I can't teach him not to hit by hitting him, but it was just a reflex.

I actually just talked to my pediatrician about this because my nephew does this all the time to my sister.
She said that you have to pull the baby in hard against your breast, it will block airflow from their nose and they will instinctually unlatch and pull off, after doing that a few times, my dr said they learn that it's not pleasant for them. I've read that in a few places now so I'm keeping it in mind for if it happens with my LO.
