OMG. H takes forever to go to bed, sometimes nursing up to an hour and a half or so before I can get her down for the night. It's exhausting. Combine that with the fact that she's a roll-aholic in the crib now and last night's epic 3 hours it took to get her down convinced me that we have to start doing something different. We decided that DH will give her a bottle. He and the nanny both give her bottles when I am gone and she will take them, and they will also get her to sleep with a bottle. DH says it takes 10 mins to get her down for a nap. We thought that him giving her a bottle was the answer.
Definitely NOT.
She took a bottle for about 15 mins. I thought all was good as I watched them on the monitor. At some point, he tried to get her into the crib and she woke up screaming her face off. She has been screaming for the last hour as I have watched him rock her, try to give her the bottle, try to give her the paci (she's not really a fan), and pace, etc. It is painful. And she is PISSED. It may take me ages to get her totally sleeping hard enough to go down, but at least it's peaceful! It's just a matter of her waking up when I go to put her in the crib! Or rolling over and waking up and we start all over! This is TORTUROUS hearing her scream!
I poked my head in twice and asked if he needed me to take her (to nurse) and he said, "No, this is going to be painful. It's not going to be easy..You need to go." She is WAILING her head off and I don't know if we're doing the right thing!!??!!
H is not the kind of kid who will just give up and quit crying. She gets MORE upset. Like A LOT MORE. She is having a meltdown x1000 in there and I am DYING. I cannot take it! She doesn't cry unless she's tired or hungry - both easy fixes! I can't take this heartbreaking sobbing she's doing in there!
Are we doing the right thing????
