Do you alternate breasts per session when you breastfeed or do you offer your LO BOTH breasts per session? I'm so not consistent!

She almost always takes only one side. On rare occasions where she is going through a growth spurt or I'm dehydrated and my supply drops then she'll take both.

She always wants both sides...she'll fuss if she doesn't get it!

It depends. For the first 3 months or so she ate one side per feeding. Then she started eating from both. Now she usually eats from both sides, but sometimes she just wants to snack.

It was always both unless, when LO was older and he fell asleep at the breast...I wasn't messing with that!

LO is 9 weeks old and pediatrician said I could just do one side if she looks content afterwards. The thing is, she DOES look content and often times sleepy, but whenever I offer her the other side just to see, she takes it and nurses for a good 10-15 min which makes me think she wasn't full even though she "looked" full. So confused!

I try to offer both sides now as she is on the light side, but she rarely drinks a lot from both. She'll usually start chatting soon after starting on the second, so I guess she's not too hungry : )

He would only take one side for the first few weeks but lately he's been taking both sides - in fact, he'll spend hours bouncing from one side to the other, cluster feeding. I guess it's a growth spurt but it's killer. Anyway he always used to be too sleepy after one to take the other - even after burping and diaper change - and he'd have spent 30 minutes on the first one so I wasn't the most willing to offer the second anyway now that he doesn't sleep he's just always wide awake and ready for more.

Voted for first option, but I think I belong to other. I feed twins, so no option to offer both boobs.

I always offer both but sometimes the second side is only a couple minutes so ill start on that side next time.

I voted always one side, and that's mostly true except for his last feed before bedtime, he always seems to want both.
When he was around 2 months old I did 2 feeds per side for a few days to tame my oversupply, which worked nicely!

@penny lane: same here! last feeding before bedtime I usually give her both so her belly is extra happily full for the night.

for the longest time he would be satisfied with one, but lately he's been wanting both.
