I just got my pack n play bassinet in the mail, but as I feared the mattress seems really flimsy? Also not sure how it's stable enough for a newborn because it felt like way too hammock-like. Am I overacting?

My LO liked the bassinet, it was plenty stable for her. Once the bassinet was out she would not sleep on the bottom part of the pnp.

i was wondering about the PNP mattress too. for now, put it on my registry. it's $40 though. not sure if it's worth it if i'm not even sure if i'm keeping the PNPs.

We have the MamaDoo Kids mattress topper and it makes a huge difference. Our son would wake up every hour because he was so uncomfortable in his pack n play. It is great because it folds in 3 and you can take it with you when you go away. They have it in their website for a better price than in amazon, BTW. Good luck!

Yup, they felt flimsy to me too. And I checked out at least 5 different ones and picked the one that was the least flimsy. But I still didn't feel like it was sturdy enough for me. Sigh. Wish I could return it but I can't so I'm just using it as a ball pit for my LO to play in.

A friend gave me the "mattress" that she used in her pnp. It's just a thick foam mattress topper. It is like an egg crate without the egg part. She used it in her pnp and loved it!

My LO still sleeps in the pnp bassinette and seems to like it fine. She is 11 weeks and can sleep up to 5-6 hour stretches at night. I agree that it seems hard and a little flimsy but the crib mattress is pretty hard too. It didnt seem worth it to get another mattress for such a short time.
