Hey there,
Was wondering if there was anyone else out there who has PCOS (or is TTC) and is trying Weight Watchers or something similar to lose weight?
I just joined WW and have about 60lbs to lose, so I'd love some company in the process!

I just wanted to offer support and say that you can totally do it!!! You already know this I think but I have PCOS and I lost about 60 pounds before my wedding/TTC. It took work but it’s doable. I did a combination of calorie counting and running (started with couch to 5k but got to the point where running was seriously the thing that helped keep me keep my sanity intact throughout the entire process). Feel free to ask me any questions that you have! Weight loss really helped my PCOS. I wasn’t ovulating/cycling on my own until I lost weight and the weightloss got me to the point where I was having normal (ish) 30-40 day cycles and ovulating naturally. I definitely still saw the effects of the PCOS (low progesterone, etc.) and weight loss wasn’t just a magical cure but I took the fact that I was ovulating naturally as a huge win.

@Running Elley: Thank you! I'm doing the Couch to 5K now, and I find it so therapeutic. I think it will help me immensely. I'm hoping that my weight loss gets me to fairly regular cycles - that's the major problem I'm having right now.

@redsmarties: I saw that you started Couch to 5k on your blog and I was so happy for you. It really changed my life I think! So I really wanted to chime in to share a success story

I am not doing WW but my doctor thinks I have PCOS and I have been trying to lose weight. Hope you don't mind if I comment. I have been doing a partially liquid, and solid vegetable diet. I started 5 days ago and I have lost 13 so far. I have some more to lose though I would love to try the couch to 5k! Anyways, I am trying to lose atleast 50 pounds before I TTC again
Good luck!!!

No, please comment away! That's fantastic! 13 lbs in 5 days - that's a lot of weight! Do you think some of it is water weight? I highly recommend Couch to 5k - I'm still slow, but at least I'm running!
Good luck to you too!

I also think Couch to 5K will be fantastic for you!
One thing you may want to look into if you're PCOS is the insulin resistance diet. That helped me a lot. Also, my doc put me on metformin at the same time I did Clomid, and that also helped.

@Running Elley: Your story is sooo inspirational! =) I love hearing it! Did you do Couch to 5K all the way through? Did you become able to run a 5K? I've done Day 1 like 400 times. Do you think it's doable on a treatmill? LOL. Sorry for all the questions.

@dharmainitiative: I did do Couch to 5k all the way through and I actually completed it mostly on a treadmill so I definitely think it’s doable I ran a few 5ks after I finished and I actually ran a few half marathons eventually too! I think that completing the program on a treadmill is totally fine but if you do eventually want to run a 5k outside it would probably be a good idea to complete some runs on the road too, probably toward the end of the program when you’re already comfortable with running for awhile at a time. Don’t feel bad about asking questions! I seriously love answering them! After my baby is born I’m pretty sure that I’ll be starting the Couch to 5k program from the beginning again and I can’t wait!
