If you've been on an elimination diet... How did it go? Were you ultimately able to identify the foods that bothered your baby and continue on with breastfeeding?
I eliminated dairy and soy before Rose was born since big sister has MSPI. Good thing I did because I tested dairy with her and it's apparent she has it too. But even so, over these past few months I can tell something else I'm eating is bothering her still. She'll go a day without spitting up then the next she'll spitup 5+ after each feeding (some projectile). She's also a crappy sleeper and is on Zantac for reflux.
So two weeks ago I embarked on a TED and we are struggling immensely. Since her six week nursing strike (yeah, that was hell) we've had to switch to pumping and bottle feeding. Those issues have also really impacted my milk supply and I'm only able to barely pump exactly what she needs everyday. On top of that, it still seems like something I'm eating is bothering her. Today she's already projectile spitup three times.
I'm feeling so defeated. I can't believe after all the struggles I went through breastfeeding my first (though we persevered for 18 months) that I'm having an even more difficult time with my second. It sucks.
I'm now seriously considering formula but that's a whole other struggle too. Our pediatrician doesn't think our insurance will cover an elemental one, but I hate to switch her to a hypoallergenic one, have her still be unhappy, then be stuck paying thousands out of pocket for an elemental one.
Don't know where I'm going with this other than I just don't know that I can keep doing this, but I feel stuck. On top of these feeding issues I'm dealing with some post partum depression/anxiety. So this all seems completely overwhelming.
Any advice or stories of similar situations would be so appreciated!
