I just came back from the OB for an infertility appointment.
Backstory: ntnp and then ttc since May (10m now).
Not ovulating at all. Everything else looks good. OB gave me clomid last month, zero monitoring.
Well, I don't think it worked? but who is to know since she didn't monitor?
anyway- we agreed that there will be monitoring this time.
but what she left us with was REALLY confusing.
she said I should stay at 50mg for 6 months! No going up, just stay. When DH and I argued this, she said, she would RX me the 100mg clomid, but it may thicken my CM and prevent pregnancy and may not help, but if were "so insistent" on it, then she'd give it to me.
Then, we asked for a HSG just to make sure the tubes were blocked. She said she doesn't believe they are, and it is painful and there is no reason to do it until the 6m of clomid doesn't work, then at THAT point, we'd look into examining my tubes. Um....why? Just because "it is painful". Sorry lady, but that's not a good enough reason.
So, my question is: would you have any reason to persuade me not to do the HSG this month instead of in 6m?
Also, would you take 100mg clomid and see what happens or would you stick with slow and steady and do 6m of 50mg?
Also, she told us this just to make things muckier:
- after 6m of clomid we have to take 3m off, unmediated
- and the HSG might flush out any toxins in my tubes, so even if they aren't blocked, it could still be beneficial to my getting pregnant.
I have NEVER been to an appointment (especially with my awesome OB) in which I left more confused than when I went in. But, it just seems like she truly doesn't know what to do with me because all my #s came back normal and 50mg was supposed to work, because all my ovaries needed was a "little shove" in the direction.
