T is finally climbing out of his crib at 2.9 years. His crib converts to a full bed so we are doing that. It will be up against one wall. On the other should we use a pool noodle (soft bumpers) or temporary bed rail? We have carpeting, if it matters.

We used a pool noodle and it's kept LO in perfectly fine.

AH! This thread has totally give me the genius (ha!) idea to use a pool noodle. LO's bed is a crib that converts to a toddler bed and then a full double bed. Although, the rail for the toddler bed is so short, I actually wonder why they even bothered because there's no way it would keep our guy in.
A pool noodle is the best of both worlds.

We tried without any kind of rail and 7 months later he still has yet to roll out!

We use pool noodles! Rail doesn't fit our bed! Works just fine!

Our DS's crib turned into a full bed but with the box spring and mattress it sits really high so we bought a cheap bed rail to use.

We use a rail because honestly I'm confused as to how a noodle keeps them from rolling/falling off?! It's like a swimming noodle, right? There's no depth to it? My child also gets up in the middle of the night, while asleep, and moves around her bed. I feel safer with a rail up!

We used these foam wedges for DD1's bed and love them! They slip under fitted sheets and have no problems staying in place.

We've tried everything, the foam wedges, the pool noodles, the only thing that works is a mesh rail, because my son ends up sleeping horizontally in the bed.

My son is a heavy roller and will sit up then plop back down in any direction so a pool noodle wouldn't work for us. We'd have to get a rail.

Rail here as well. LO is too much of a mover in bed and really likes to be up against the wall or the rail, so the pool noodle wouldn't work for us!

Olivia throws herself around, so we will be getting a bed rail… I asked on Facebook and here, and this one has gotten pretty good reviews from people I know.

@Alivoo01: Yep, this was true for us too. Often he ends up sleeping with his head pushed against the mesh, he'd topple off with a pool noodle.

We didn't use anything but both DD and DS stayed where they started when sleeping; we'd just put them closer to the wall and find them pretty much in the same place in the morning.

We use the same one as @sorrycharlie, the pool noodle did not work to keep LO contained. She likes to sleep right up next to the rail (she did this in her crib too)

Update- in thinking about how my son sleeps we got a temporary mesh rail. He's sleeping smooshed up against it right now!
