@TJBee: I got group B strep and had to be hooked up to an IV and couldn't roam. The reason my nurse gave me was because the IV machine that allows you to walk around was being used by someone else at the time.

Same as @locavore_mama. I still labored at home for as long as I could. I was 7 cm at the first check when I got to the hospital.

I was hooked up to an IV and made to lay in bed on one side but that was because I was stressing out about the needle (and thus sending both my heart rate as well as LO's all over the place).

When I first found out I was positive, I asked my doctor if I would still be able to walk around and be in the tub. She said they would just put a lock in my hand and they could hook me up to give me the medicine when needed (this also changed because I had to be hooked up to fluids with the heart rate issue).

Edit: I was told to come to the hospital when my contractions were between 3-5 minutes for an hour because they wanted to get at least two doses of antibiotics in me before she was born. Because of different circumstances, we only had time for one, and we had to stay at the hospital 48 hours after she was born to make sure she was fine.

@TJBee: I think the water breaking is the same for ALL pregnant woman. Once your water breaks they want baby out within 24 hours.

I tested positive for it. I labored in bed with an IV. My dude made labor fun by being squirmy, so there's no way I could have walked around during it. I had two 4 hour courses of antibiotics.

I was GBS+ and labored at home until I was having contractions maybe 3-4 min apart. I got to the hospital and they measured me at an 8, so they hooked me up to an IV immediately. Had baby about 3 hrs later.
